Finn quests for cyclops tears to heal his and Jake's injuries, but encounters a host of frustrating obstacles.

Tropes

  • Asshole Victim: The talking bush does nothing but insult Finn from the get-go, making it hard to feel sorry for him after Finn burns off all his leaves getting across the acid river.
  • Continuity Nod: Finn is reading in bed while recuperating. The volume in question is the Enchiridion.
  • Disney Acid Sequence: Finn's nightmare and horrified fantasies about the Clown Nurses.
  • Faux Horrific: Finn's reaction to the Clown Nurses. (May be different if you share his phobia.)
  • Heel Realization: Finn understood that all his actions through the episode have caused a lot of pain to others. He sings about it.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Finn and Jake are infirmed because they broke some bones jumping off of birds as illustrated in the title card.
  • Monster Clown / Nightmare Face: The Clown Nurses though this just may be how Finn sees em.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Finn after he accidentally injuries a little man's wife.
  • Spoof Aesop: The episode seems like it's leading up to a moral where Finn learns a lesson about not doing things his way all the time and to accept that sometimes, he has to do what other people want him to do and accept the choices given to him, even if he doesn't like it. Then at the end, after having apparently learned that lesson, Finn proceeds to go back to doing things his way, and this time it all works out in his and everyone else's favor.
  • Take a Third Option: Finn tries this throughout the episode, only to completely fail at first.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Another phobia of Finn is discovered, clowns.
  • The Window or the Stairs: Throughout the episode, Finn keeps being presented with situations that seem to only have one (or two equally bad) options; he insists on finding another way each time, generally resulting in much more distress than necessary.
