- Disney Acid Sequence: Finn's nightmare and horrified fantasies about the Clown Nurses.

- Heel Realization: Finn understood that all his actions through the episode have caused a lot of pain to others. He sings about it.

- Spoof Aesop: The episode seems like it's leading up to a moral where Finn learns a lesson about not doing things his way all the time and to accept that sometimes, he has to do what other people want him to do and accept the choices given to him, even if he doesn't like it. Then at the end, after having apparently learned that lesson, Finn proceeds to go back to doing things his way, and this time it all works out in his and everyone else's favor.
