- All According to Plan: Jake says this when Finn and Lady Rainicorn start hitting it off. He says it again, in a more sinister fashion, when he concocts a scheme to make them jealous.
- Big "NO!": When Jake sees his girlfriend, Lady Rainicorn, in the arms of his best pal, Finn.
- Bilingual Bonus: When Jake asks Lady Rainicorn to tell a joke, she says (in Korean) that she can't think of one, but she does recall an amusing time when she and Jake annoyed a farmer by running naked through their fields.
- Gender-Blender Name: Tiffany, the goblin boy Jake hangs out with in an effort to make Finn jealous.
- Fish People: Finn, Jake, and Lady work together to fight off a band of "evil lake knights" to get back the translator.
- Operation: Jealousy: After thinking Lady's replaced him with Finn because she's doing the same stuff with him that she did with Jake, Jake calls up his old friend Tiffany (who is male) to play viola with him so both Lady and Finn get jealous.
- Spiteful Spit: While Tiffany vows revenge against Finn, Finn hocks a loogie at him to chase him off.
- Spoof Aesop: After Finn and Jake make up.Jake: Let's never be stupid again.
Finn: Wait! Let's always be stupid, forever! - Vocal Dissonance: The universal translator only has three settings, none of which really fit Lady Rainicorn: "old man", "nightmare", and "nerdy alien". Jake only goes with the "old man" setting because the other two make her nearly unintelligible.
