The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd is an educational family-friendly podcast made by Grant Baciocco and Doug Price that began in 2004. It follows the world's most brilliant scientist, Dr. Floyd, his young protege Dr. Grant, and their faithful robot companion, C.H.I.P.S., as they travel through the time and space stream trying to stop Dr. Steve and his sock shaped assistant Fidgert from stealing historical artifacts and selling them on eBay.

The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd may contain examples of:

  • Character Narrator: Mr. Narrator is a recurring minor character. He narrates the story and occasionally interacts with the characters, even helping on one occasion.
  • Edutainment Show: Every two or three episodes they're in a new time period and meet a new historical figure, learning about everything from Al Capone to Susan B. Anthony to George Washington.
  • Friendly Enemy: Dr. Steve and Fidgert aren't that far from friends with the heroes. In the final episode, it is heavily implied that Fidgert and C.H.I.P.S. have started dating.
  • Not That Kind of Doctor: Most recurring characters' names are prefaced with "doctor", although they're all doctors of some kind of science. Dr. Floyd canonically has a doctorate in several fields, and a flashback showed Dr. Steve in college studying to get his degree in destructive science.
  • Robot Buddy: C.H.I.P.S. is described several times throughout the series as their "faithful robot companion". C.H.I.P.S. is able to track Dr. Steve and Fidgert's time and space jumps, and later on in the series, C.H.I.P.S. gains the ability to talk and reveals that he is not a he, but a she.
  • Time Machine: Dr. Floyd invented the time and space travel device to study the past. Unfortunately, in the first episode, Dr. Steve and Fidgert steal one. Fortunately, Dr. Floyd had built two.
  • Historical Domain Character: Virtually every episode has some historical figure in it, sometimes several.
