is an audio drama created by 'Garden Salad' which follows The Red Scales, a motley crew of five, on their misadventures through space.
Currently, only one episode has been released.
Because You Were Nice to Me: This is the reason that Vedette agrees to join The Red Scales. When Xenthar meets her, he asks for her name before asking her to join his team. Xenthar’s sister, Ixara, does not afford Vedette the same courtesy. Vedette claims that kind of arrogance would cost them in the field.
Blatant Lies: In the first episode, the officer that recommends Kraken join Xenthar’s group responds that he can’t think of any upon being asked what her potential flaws as a member are. Then we meet her.
Deadpan Snarker: Kali.
The Friend Nobody Likes: Kraken is heavily implied to have been this when she was still in training. The officer that recommends her pawns her off on Xenthar as a joke, believing it will get him and his coworker just a few minutes away from her.
- Subverted Trope: While Moray doesn’t like her much as of Episode One, Xenthar only seems uncomfortable with how crass she is, and Kali actually likes her for being so brutally honest.
Number Two: Moray REALLY wants to be Xenthar’s Vice Commandante and Xenthar allows it, despite Kali pointing out that it’s not practical considering they only have five slots for members.
Red Oni, Blue Oni: The excitable Moray is the Red Oni to Xenthar’s more reserved Blue Oni.
Sibling Rivalry: A mild version. While they’re not actively combative enemies, Xenthar and Ixara really don’t seem to get along.
- Kali and Ixara too, to some extent.
Space Opera: The genre of the show. While the events are set in space, so far the plot is focused primarily on characters and relationships.
"Well Done, Son" Guy: Xenthar is implied to really want his father’s approval.
