"Welcome back to Just Roll With It, baby!"
GrizzlyPlays

Just Roll With It is a Dungeons & Dragons Actual Play podcast played by Slimecicle, Bizly, Condifiction, with GrizzlyPlays as the Dungeon Master. It is commonly shortened to JRWI by fans.

Set on the seas of the world of Mana, Just Roll With It is based around the ongoing war between the pirates, The Undersea civilization, and the Navy, a global force hell-bent on snuffing out all resistance. It focuses on three novice pirates, Chip, Jay Ferin, and Gillion Tidestrider, and their various adventures on the high seas.

It is our destiny to include examples of:

  • Ambiguous Time Period: While it takes place on the open seas, with most technology being that of medieval times, there are many examples of modern technology, such as a giant, sentient television screen on a floating casino.
  • Awesome Underwater World: Gillion comes from the Undersea, a nation that is comprised of his race, Tritons, and other aquatic races. It is a major power in global politics.
  • Bad Black Barf: When a person makes a deal with Niklaus, they can begin leaking black ooze out of every orifice.
  • Casino Episode: The crew comes upon the Blue Royale Casino, which is a floating island with a giant casino on top of it. The casino traps whoever comes inside of it, freezing them in time.
  • Cool Boat: The crew spends much of the campaign traveling on The Albatross.
  • Epic Ship-on-Ship Action: There are a number of naval battles involving the navy's gargantuan ships.
  • Gladiator Games: One island that the crew lands on is controlled by pirates, and has an annual gladiator tournament.
  • Friendly Pirate: The protagonists are currently serving as friendly pirates, to do as much good as possible.
  • Island Base: Many of these, being the town of Zero, Desire Island, Joaldo Island, and The Block.
  • Island of Mystery: The setting for most of the adventures.
  • Just Friends: Commonly shown by Jay and Chip, often under the subtext of Mistaken for Romance and Like Brother and Sister.
  • Just Like Robin Hood: This is commonly done by the Riptide Pirates, especially shown whilst they are in Edison Kingdom.
  • Magic Kiss: Chip and Gillion kissed to open a door in an early episode. Their players both rolled natural 20s on the performance checks to do.
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: Grizzlyplays is this, as theDungeon Master of the game, he voices everyone except for the player characters.
  • Narnia Time: In the Blue Royale Casino, time moves much slower. Clorten was trapped there for ten years.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Tritons are an aquatic race that act as the merpeople of this world.
  • Ominous Cube: The Block, a giant red Rubik's Cube in the middle of the ocean that is used to store the Navy's most powerful enemies.
  • Pirate: The protagonists of the podcast are pirates.
  • Pirate Girl: Jay Ferin and Lizzie Lafayette are the most notable examples, however there are multiple others.
  • Reckless Gun Usage: Jay has a gun, and often manages to mess up using it. One time, Jay puts her gun in a polymorphed crab claw that she grew, and effectively fired it. Gillion also obtains her gun and instead of shooting it, used it to bludgeon an opponent. He nearly shot himself with it.
  • Screw Destiny: One of the overarching themes of the story, exhibited commonly by all three protagonists.
  • The Power of Friendship: The entire crew commonly stresses how important they are to each other, and are stronger together.
  • Was It All a Lie?: A variation of this phrase is spoken by Chip after Jay’s liar reveal.
