The Dead Meat Podcast
is a podcast hosted by Chelsea Rebecca and James A. Janisse of Dead Meat fame. The podcast focuses on a wide range of content including film reviews, interviews, video essays and game shows, all of which focuses on the genre of horror.
The podcast began in March 2018 and has since been promoted as the Dead Meat channel's second major output of content following The Kill Count.
Most of the episodes are available on the Dead Meat youtube channel and on other listening platforms.
This podcast contains examples of:
- Ass Pull: Invoked. The Malignant episode has Chelsea and James delighting in Gabriel's ability to manipulate technology, before briefly asking for an explanation of how he can even do it, only to come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter.
- Beach Episode: The Paranormal Pool Parties (reviews of the Paranormal Activity franchise) feature Chelsea and James in beachwear, though it wasn't until their review of Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin that they actually hosted in a pool.
- Easter Egg: Lampshaded. Chelsea commented on a prop, a stack of four skulls, on the set that some assumed to be a reference to One Piece. It turns out that it was actually a very obscure reference to the Gorillaz website from the mid-2000s.
- Halloween Episode: Games for Hallowe'en, while a little off the mark premiering two and a half weeks before the holiday, was released in Halloween 2022. It revolves around Chelsea and James playing old 1900s Halloween games with Heather Langenkamp and David Anderson.
- Running Gag: There are several nods throughout the podcast to Chelsea's love of the Psycho (1998) remake, much to the chagrin of James. Reached its high point when the film was reviewed for the podcast's 100th episode.
