Basic Trope: A game prevents its players from doing or saying something NSFW.

  • Straight: Players can choose what clothes the Player Character wears, but aren't allowed to put them in Nude Coloured Clothes, and if they try to swear, a message pops up saying, "Don't say that!".
  • Exaggerated: The "Don't say that!" message pops up even if you so much as make a potty joke.
    • If you do or say anything NSFW, your character is Bound and Gagged by the Big Bad for a set period of time, so they cannot move, say anything lewd, or do anything inappropriate in general. Attempting to escape (which is impossible) will result in the villain giving the player a harsh lecture.
    • The above, except the only way to escape is to publicly apologize on the developer's social media page. note
  • Downplayed: While you are allowed to wear nude-coloured clothes, or even actually go naked, a naked character is not allowed to touch another character in any way (lest players make them have sex), and while swearing is allowed, you still get the "Don't say that!" message if you try to say a slur.
  • Justified: The game is aimed at young children.
  • Inverted: You earn points for swearing or acting lewd or edgy.
  • Subverted: The game starts out with the censors, but then they get removed.
  • Double Subverted: But then it turns out that the censors disappearing was a glitch, and they get re-added.
  • Parodied: NPCs try to swear or have sex and are frustrated that the powers that be won't let them.
  • Zigzagged: The censors switch on and off at random.
  • Averted: You can do whatever you want in the game, no matter how crude it is.
  • Enforced: "We can't have players doing or saying inappropriate things, since some of the players are children! Better add some patches."
  • Lampshaded: "What the Hell, Player? Why are you trying to make me look naked?!"
  • Invoked:
  • Exploited: The game has in-game police officers who will arrest the player if they do inappropriate things.
  • Defied: "I don't care if there are children playing this game. They shouldn't be."
  • Discussed:
  • Conversed: "Don't try to swear or make your character go nude in this game. They think of everything."
  • Implied:
  • Deconstructed:
  • Reconstructed:
  • Played for Laughs: If you try to make your player character go naked, a Gag Censor will appear, and swear words are replaced with funny gibberish.
  • Played for Drama:
  • Played for Horror: Trying to do something perverted will result in demons attacking the Player Character.
