Basic Trope: An incredibly standard and bland release.
- Straight: The DVD for Tropes and Traps only includes the main menu, a language section, and the movie.
- Exaggerated: The DVD doesn't even have the main menu.
- Downplayed: The DVD includes a theatrical trailer.
- Justified:
- The bonus features were not ready yet when the DVD was pressed.
- The movie didn't leave enough room for other features on the disc (and a second disc would have made it too expensive for the target audience)
- Inverted: The DVD has nothing but special features, with no movie on it.
- Subverted: The main menu doesn't show a special features option, but a hidden button in the Trope Co. logo shows the special features.
- Double Subverted: But when you click on one of the special features, a menu says “These features are only available on the Blu-Ray version.”
- Parodied: The DVD doesn't even have the movie, and the entire runtime is spent mocking the viewer that they bought the worst possible version.
- Zig-Zagged:
- Same as the double subverted case, only that if you wait on that screen long enough, the special feature will start playing anyways.
- One version has the movie in a cropped aspect ratio, but a lot of bonus features. Another release has it in fullscreen, but with no bonus features.
- Averted: The DVD includes plenty of bonus features besides a movie.
- Lampshaded: The box is labeled "Vanilla Edition".
