Basic Trope: Taking care of a loved one even after they've become a humanoid monster.

  • Straight: Bob gets bitten by a vampire. Even after he turns, his sister Alice keeps him in the basement to prevent him from being hurt by sunlight or monster hunters and lets him feed on her.
  • Exaggerated: Alice has a basement full of monster loved ones: her brother Bob, a vampire; her boyfriend Charlie, a zombie; and her best friend Eva, a werewolf.
  • Downplayed: Alice takes care of Bob who is a werewolf and growing more feral in mind even while human. He still has occasional lucid moments even though he must be kept chained up for safety.
  • Justified:
    • Not all monsters lose their minds, and Alice hopes she can still keep Bob around in some fashion, even if it costs her in blood and social opportunities.
    • Last season's Time Travel Episode showed elderly Bob as a normal human… in the sun. Alice knows that to mean that he'll be cured.
  • Inverted:
    • Bob gets bitten and becomes a vampire. Alice reluctantly stakes him.
    • Bob, one of the former last humans on earth, gets bitten by a vampire. He keeps his sister Alice in the basement of their house to keep her safe from other vampires and hunts animals for her.
  • Subverted: After Bob turns, Alice lures him into the basement, presumably so that she can keep him safe from Monster Hunters. Then she stakes him when he has his back turned.
  • Double Subverted: It turns out that she was faking for the monster hunters who were watching from the security cameras. She continues to care for him once they are no longer watching.
  • Parodied: Alice's "support" includes things like dropping by the blood bank along with the grocery store, buying extra strength sunscreen, and driving Bob to Monsters Anonymous meetings.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: No one in the story turns into a monster.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: Ancient vampire Felicia turns vampire hunter Alice's brother knowing she won't be able to kill or abandon him and thereby drive a rift between her and other vampire hunters.
  • Exploited: Dracone blackmails Alice with his knowledge about her vampire brother.
  • Defied: Alice begins wondering about keeping Bob locked up in the basement after she and Charlie find him mid-transformation. Charlie stakes him to prevent Alice from taking the risk.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: Even after Bob has been bitten and has disappeared, Alice refers to him in the present tense, and she suddenly begins collecting the blood from animals she hunts.
