Basic Trope: A Noodle Incident (or similar unexplained event) finally gets an explanation.

  • Straight: In the show "The Adventures of Alice and Bob", the titular characters frequently mention an incident that involved a birthday party with a pink and green emu. In a later episode, there's a flashback scene with a birthday party that shows an emu popping out of a cake covered with pink and green paint.
  • Exaggerated:
    • An entire episode is dedicated to explaining the noodle incident(s) of the show.
    • Not only does the scene resolve the "emu at the birthday party incident", it also resolves the "bathroom food incident" and the reason why Alice is permanently banned from the local bowling alley, among many other things.
  • Downplayed:
    • It was fairly easy to guess what happened, so the reveal isn't much of a surprise.
    • "Remember the emu at the birthday party incident?" "No." "The emu covered in paint jumped out of the cake." "Oh, right!"
  • Justified: Charlie wanted an explanation as to what the unexplained incident was. (Can double as "Enforced" if Charlie is meant to be an Audience Surrogate.)
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: The flashback seems like it has something to do with the emu, but is really just a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment.
  • Double Subverted: But then the big-lipped alligator is a reference to the previously undescribed "big-lipped alligator incident"!
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: Some unexplained incidents get explanations, some don't.
  • Averted: ???
  • Enforced:
    • A fan wanted to know what the incident with the birthday party and pink and green emu was, so the writers decided to give the reason.
    • The writers finally came up with an explanation for the incident, especially one that'd keep the Noodle Incident funny.
    • The planned to be shown (and already animated) event originally had to be noodleified due to mirroring real life events, but it has now been long enough to no longer be too soon, allowing the creators to finally include the sequence in an actual episode.
  • Lampshaded: "Oh, that's what the emu incident was!"
  • Invoked: "Okay, I think it's time to explain about that emu, don't you think?"
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Alice decides to keep it a secret for whatever reason - she either thinks it's funnier without context or it's too traumatic to bring up.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "I've been wondering why they kept mentioning an "emu incident" on the show. Interesting that we finally learn the reason."
