Basic Trope: A character has a repetitive name.
- Straight: Bob's full name is "Robert Roberts".
- Exaggerated:
- Robert Roberts' wife's maiden name was "Alice Allison". They also have a friend name "Taylor Taylorson", another named "Tyler Tyler", and their mailman is "Nicholas Nicholson".
- Bob's middle name is also "Robert".
- Downplayed: Bob's full name is Robert Robinson.
- Justified:
- Having repetitive names is a family tradition for Bob.
- Bob's parents were uncreative.
- Denise Cransford didn't let the fact that she'd be marrying into the Dennison family stop her from saying "Yes" when Charles proposed.
- Subverted: Bob's middle name is Johnson.
- Double Subverted: His original name was Johnson.
- Parodied: Bob's full name is Bobby Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Boberts.
- Enforced: The writers couldn't come up with better names. Or done for Rule of Funny.
- Invoked:
- Bob's parents decided to name him that since they thought it would be cute and/or funny.
- Denise married Charles because of the Added Alliterative Appeal.
- Lampshaded: "So Bob, your full name is 'Robert Roberts'?" "Yeah, why?"
- Zig-Zagged: Blake's full name is "Blake Drake".
- Averted: Nobody's names are repetitive.
- Defied: A couple whose last name is "Roberts" contemplate naming their baby boy "Robert", but they go with "Michael" instead.
