Playing With / Raw Eggs Make You Stronger

Go To

Basic Trope: Someone consumes raw eggs because (they think) it makes them stronger.

  • Straight: Bob drinks raw eggs during a Training Montage.
  • Exaggerated: Whenever he's in training, Bob lives on raw eggs and nothing else.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob is seen drinking a smoothie that contains one raw egg.
    • Bob eats soft-boiled (i.e. partially cooked) eggs during his training.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
    • During a montage of Bob being a Lazy Bum, he's seen drinking raw eggs because he can't even be bothered to cook them.
    • Bob eats a lot of boiled eggs during a Training Montage.
    • Bob is allergic to eggs, so they make him weaker.
  • Subverted: Bob drinks raw eggs... to make himself vomit so he can play sick and get out of having to train with Alice.
  • Double Subverted: It turns out he skips Alice's training because he thinks it's inefficient and he's better off on his own. Later, he successfully forces himself to drink raw eggs and keep them down.
  • Parodied:
    • Bob tries to drink raw eggs, only to spit them out, or throw up immediately afterwards.
    • Bob insists that eating raw cookie dough is badass because it contains raw eggs.
    • Bob's training is clearly giving him a Charles Atlas Superpower, but nobody takes him seriously because he doesn't drink raw eggs.
    • Bob is a Lazy Bum who doesn't understand why drinking raw eggs without exercising just makes him fat.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob drinks raw eggs, only to say "I Drank WHAT?!" It's left ambiguous whether he really drank them by accident, or if he was just pretending to because Alice caught him drinking the eggs she needed for a cake.
  • Averted: Bob doesn't drink raw eggs during the Training Montage.
  • Enforced:
    • The executives insist on adding a scene where Bob drinks raw eggs because "surely our viewers will eat up a Rocky homage".
    • Product Placement for some company that sells eggs.
  • Lampshaded: "Why do all those bodybuilders drink raw eggs all the time?"
  • Invoked: "Hey, Bob! If you want to get more out of your workout, try drinking raw eggs for that extra strength!"
  • Exploited: Alice, who wants Bob dead for some reason, makes sure he gets an egg infected with salmonella.
  • Defied:
    • Alice gives Bob a glass full of raw eggs. He's disgusted and refuses to touch it.
    • Bob doesn't eat eggs at all because he's vegan.
    • Alice sees Bob about to drink some raw eggs and stops him, because she doesn't want him to get salmonella.
  • Discussed: After seeing him train, Alice warns Bob not to drink raw eggs because he risks getting salmonella from them, and cooked eggs are more nutritious anyway.
  • Conversed: "Ew, why do people on TV always believe drinking raw eggs will make them stronger?"
  • Implied: Once Bob finishes his training, there are plenty of empty egg cartons in the trash.
  • Deconstructed: Bob gets salmonella.
  • Reconstructed: Bob later finds a way to make sure his raw eggs are safe to drink.
  • Played For Drama: Bob's unhealthy obsession with bodybuilding drives him to drink raw eggs despite the risk for salmonella.
  • Played For Horror: Bob is force-fed raw eggs by a cruel coach while undergoing Training from Hell.
