Basic Trope: Superheroes in movies tend to wear darker-colored costumes than they do in comic books.
- Straight: In the comic books, Troperman wore a fairly brightly-colored yellow and blue suit. In the movie "Troperman", the suit is significantly dulled to a navy blue with gold highlights.
- Exaggerated: Troperman was known for wearing a neon blue and yellow suit in the comics, but for some reason his suit is entirely black in the movie.
- Downplayed: Troperman's suit was always fairly dull-colored, but in the movie it's significantly more dull.
- Justified:
- Troperman goes out at night, or in dark areas, so wearing a darker-colored outfit would be more suitable.
- Troperman is an alien superhero, and so perceives colour differently then we do: to him his dull outfit is very bright.
- Inverted: Troperman was known for wearing a duller suit in the comic, but wears a more brightly colored suit in the movie.
- Subverted: Troperman is told by his Love Interest or sidekick to don a darker suit, but he sticks with the brightly colored suit from the comics...
- Double Subverted: ...but that suit is battle-damaged, and he switches to a darker suit in haste.
- Parodied:
- Troperman's colorful costume is literally dyed black by his younger sibling, who claims it looks edgy and makes it look even edgier by turning it into a '90s Anti-Hero outfit.
- As part of a Mythology Gag, Troperman finds a suit resembling the one he wore in the comics, and asks "What the hell is this?"
- Zig-Zagged: Troperman has a darker-colored suit, but some of his superhero allies continue to wear brighter suits.
- Averted: Troperman's suit doesn't change color.
- Enforced:
- The costume designers/producers of the movie don't feel like it'd be as easy to take Troperman seriously if he's wearing a brightly colored suit.
- Real Is Brown can be in effect in a lot of cases.
- "Troperman" is Darker and Edgier than the comics, why not modify his suit to match?
- Lampshaded: "I thought I had a more brightly colored suit..."
- Invoked:
- Troperman doesn't know if he'll be taken seriously for wearing a suit that bright, so he puts on a darker-colored suit to be taken more seriously.
- Alternatively, Troperman gets reassigned to working at night, so he puts on a different suit to match.
- Exploited: Because of Troperman's darker-colored suit, it's harder for him to be seen in the dark - he uses this to sneak up on his enemies.
- Defied: Troperman decides to wear his bright blue and yellow suit regardless of what happens.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: "Why do the superheroes in movies always wear such dark colors?" "To be fair, it'd be pretty silly-looking if they seriously went about their business wearing what they wore in the comics."
