Basic Trope: Characters are locked in a room where they'll die if they don't escape fast enough.
- Straight: Mary and Spencer find themselves locked in the walk-in freezer of Mary's Eatery. They have to work together to find a way to get out before they freeze to death.
- Exaggerated: There's liquid nitrogen flooding into the freezer, so Mary and Spencer only have a few minutes to escape.
- Downplayed: Although Mary and Spencer won't die, they might get hypothermia if they stay there for too long.
- Justified: Truth in Television. Freezers can be dangerous, and staying in one for too long will cause hypothermia or frostbite if you stay too long.
- Inverted: Mary and Spencer lock themselves inside the freezer for safety, since there's a dangerous Heat Wave inside and they'd rather be cold than hot.
- Subverted: After Mary and Spencer enter the freezer, the door slams shut behind them. However, Mary notices an escape latch that opens the door.
- Double Subverted: The latch breaks off, meaning there's no other escape.
- Averted: Nobody in the work gets stuck in a room with perilous circumstances if they stay too long.
- Enforced: The producers needed a Bottle Episode, but didn't want to go with a traditional Locked in a Room scenario. So they had them get locked in a freezer for extra drama.
- Lampshaded: "Oh, no! We're stuck in the freezer!"
- Invoked: When Mary and Spencer are going into the freezer to grab some ingredients, Logan shuts the door and props it closed.
- Exploited: Logan traps Mary and Spencer in the freezer as a Death Trap, so they'll be out of his way for good.
- Defied: When Mary designed the freezer, she installed a latch on the inside that can open the door regardless of if it's locked, so people always have a way to get out.
- Discussed: "It'd be pretty dangerous if someone walked into that freezer, and then there was no way to get out."
- Conversed: "Why are TV characters always getting stuck in freezers?"
- Played for Laughs: Spencer is incredibly annoying, and Mary actively tries to induce hypothermia and waste her energy so she doesn't have to deal with him.
