Basic Trope: A restaurant or similar that serves gross food.
- Straight: Speedy Burgers is a burger joint that sells burgers with stale buns, limp lettuce, and patties that are always bad-tasting at best and expired at worst.
- Exaggerated:
- Everything that Speedy Burgers sells is crawling with mould.
- Speedy Burgers puts things that aren't even food (such as roadkill) into burgers.
- Downplayed:
- The burgers are decent, but a little bland, and the soda is flat.
- Speedy Burgers makes decent burgers, but any attempt at making something that isn't on the menu usually goes badly.
- The burgers at Speedy Burgers are usually okay, but whenever one of the chefs is Out Sick, they're subbed by someone who makes horrible burgers.
- Justified:
- The staff of Speedy Burgers are poor, or the whole town is poor, and thus they have to make-do with subpar ingredients.
- The chefs are incompetent and the restaurant is unlicensed — Alice just haphazardly put it together to make a quick buck.
- Alice the restaurant owner is greedy and thus the ingredients are cheap (and therefore bad) and she feels throwing out expired ingredients is "wasting money".
- Alice would eat anything and doesn't realise other people don't feel the same.
- The Run 'n' Buy has this reputation, but that's because it's primarily a convenience store and thus food isn't a big priority.
- Inverted: Speedy Burgers is run by a Supreme Chef.
- Subverted: Bob goes to Speedy Burgers and thinks the burgers taste bad... but he's just a Picky Eater.
- Double Subverted: Carol won't eat the burgers either.
- Parodied: The restaurant is literally named the Salmonella Hut.
- Zigzagged:
- Depending on the episode you're watching, the burgers at Speedy Burgers may be good, great, bad, horrible, or just average.
- The burgers taste bad, but the ice cream sundaes are good, but the salad is expired, but the fries are delicious, but the soda is flat...
- Averted: Speedy Burgers is an okay restaurant.
- Enforced:
- Lampshaded: "Speedy Burgers? More like Seedy Burgers, am I right? How does that place stay in business?!"
- Invoked: Alice deliberately makes the burgers bad for whatever reason.
- Exploited: Bob sues Speedy Burgers for selling expired food.
- Defied: Alice makes sure all her food is up to scratch.
- Discussed: "The burger joint next to my workplace is awful!"
- Conversed: "How do these nasty cartoon restaurants stay in business?"
- Implied: Bob mentions he once got food poisoning from Speedy Burgers."
- Deconstructed: Speedy Burgers gets shut down.
- Reconstructed:
- Played for Laughs:
- Played for Drama: Bob gets botulism from Speedy Burgers and either dies or almost dies.
- Played for Horror: The expired burgers turn into monsters.
