Basic Trope: The default outfit of a Superhero or other Superpowered Character is a Leotard.

  • Straight: Lori'Lastic is a superheroine whose costume is more-or-less a leotard that exposes her legs.
  • Exaggerated: Lori and all the superheroes from here to Antarctica wear extremely revealing leotards as their hero outfits. Even the Male ones.
  • Downplayed: Lori's outfit is Civvie Spandex, with her legs covered by jeans.
  • Justified:
    • Lori used to be a gymnast and regularly wore leotards, plus her fighting style incorporates a lot of gymnastics. As such, a leotard is a natural choice for her superhero outfit.
    • Truth in Television; Leotards are very practical athletic outfits.
    • Lori is a Shameless Fanservice Girl who loves wearing fanservicey outfits. But since decency laws exist, her outfit has to be as (relatively) modest as possible.
    • Superhero suits can be expensive. Because she has Rubber Woman powers, any suit Lori uses would be pricey since it has to stretch as much as she can and still retain its shape. Having said outfit as a leotard is less costly since it uses less of the special fabric material, particularly at the legs, than a Full-Body Suit would.
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: Lori designs several superhero outfits. The first one she creates resembles a leotard, but the final design she comes up & goes with a more modest body-suit for her superhero suit.
  • Double Subverted: However, the latter outfit gets damaged beyond repair rather quickly, so she goes back to the leotard outfit as her standard suit.
  • Parodied:
    • Leotard Suits are considered to be standard male superhero outfits. Having a female hero wear one is akin to creepy crossdressing.
    • Alternatively, having Lori in a leotard is more of a case of Fan Disservice.
  • Zig-Zagged: Lori has several different superhero outfits. Some resemble leotards, others are just regular body suits, and others are Civvie Spandex. She chooses which outfit to wear depending on what she feels like.
  • Averted: Lori doesn't have a superhero costume, much less one that resembles a leotard. She simply wears normal civilian clothes while doing hero work.
  • Enforced: Long-Running Superheroine Lori'Lastic and her classic leotard outfit are extremely popular among the fans, even female ones. Even though superhero outfits have become more modest over the years, Lori's outfit is still the same since it is that iconic, so the artists & editors opt to never change it.
  • Lampshaded: "Does the Hero Squad have any outfit regulations? Or is Lori'Lastic just a Playboy Bunny missing her rabbit ears?"
  • Invoked: A superhero-suit designer looks at Lori's powerset & fighting style, and creates a leotard-like suit to compliment her physique.
  • Exploited: It might not be the most comfortable, but because fanservicy outfits are popular in-universe, Lori decides to have a leotard-esque outfit simply to attract more attention as a superhero.
  • Defied: The first outfit Lori receives is essentially a leotard, but she rejects it for something more modest.
  • Deconstructed:
    • Wearing a Leotard as a Super-Suit has several advantages and drawbacks. On one hand: it is lighter & more breathable which make it excellent for athletic superhero work; it also doesn't shift or bunch up during movement, it is easier to conceal under clothes or in a bag, and it allows greater movement for Lori. But on the other hand: it doesn't provide as much coverage or protection as other garments, it makes her more vulnerable to the elements (such as her legs being cold during frigid weather or making her have sunburn on them during summer), and it also makes Lori the object of affection among many within the general public, much to her chagrin.
    • Because of her Leotard outfit, civilians, criminals, & other superheroes have a hard time taking Lori'Lastic seriously as a superheroine, since she essentially wears an outfit that makes her look as attractive as possible, regardless of its usefulness (or lack-thereof). Not only that, but wearing the outfit gradually turns her into a Reluctant Fanservice Girl who has self-esteem issues. Her reputation gets to the point where people only seem to remember her for wearing a leotard, rather than for any actions she’s done or even what her powers are.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Lori acknowledges the drawbacks of her leotard outfit, but after much thought, she sees them as necessary. To her, the benefits of a leotard are much greater than any-&-all disadvantages, and said drawbacks don’t impact her as much as others may assume.
    • Over time, Lori'Lastic proves to be a more-than-capable superheroine in her own right and wins the love & respect of everyone. Her leotard outfit stops being the butt of jokes and instead becomes a popular fashion trend & design for other heroes.
  • Played For Laughs: For SOME reason or another, every time Lori wears a regular Full-Body Super-Suit it gets damaged to the point that is resembles a leotard. After some time, Lori decides "Screw It!" and makes her standard outfit a leotard to save on the cost of making another suit. Doing so makes any-&-all suit damage disappear.
  • Played For Drama: Lori did not want to have a Leotard-Esque Super-Suit, but the other heroes in the Hero Squad pressured & bullied her into having one as her standard outfit. This creates a lot of self-esteem issues for her.
