Basic Trope: Pretty in Mink that is stated to be faux fur to avert Fur and Loathing.

  • Straight: On the first day of autumn, Alice meets her friends wearing a white fur jacket. She says it's faux when a couple look shocked.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice also states that the wool in her hat and the leather in her belt are fake.
    • Alice states that she isn't wearing a single fiber of natural fabric.
  • Downplayed:
    • She says her fur is faux, but her friends don't seem to mind either way.
    • She says that the fur is real, but explains that it's some kind of ethical fur (e.g. fur from roadkill or invasive species).
  • Justified: Alice supports animal rights.
  • Inverted:
    • Alice states that it's a real fur jacket to avoid upsetting characters/viewers who disapprove of the amount of petroleum used to make fake fur.
    • Alice states that it's a real fur jacket because both she and her friends dislike animal rights movements.
  • Subverted: It's really a mink coat that her grandmother originally owned, but she says it's fake to avoid any nasty comments.
  • Double Subverted: Alice knows she is in a cartoon, so any fur she wears is technically just a drawing.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig Zagged:
    • Live-Action Adaptations of this show may have her jacket be faux, for budget reasons, mink, to be true to The Reveal, or be an entirely different type of fur.
    • Alice wears a fake fur jacket... because she can't afford the mink jacket she really wants and is saving up for. After she buys it, she reveals that it was so expensive because it came from a fur farmer who treated the animals very well.
  • Averted: Alice shows up wearing her white fur coat, and neither she, nor her friends, bother to comment on if it's real.
  • Enforced:
    • It's Product Placement for a company that sells designer faux fur garments.
    • The writers feared the Moral Guardians disapproving of a scene where Alice was wearing a fur coat, so they made her say that the coat was fake to avoid anyone being worried.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Alice buys a bunch of real furs, and says they are all fake, so no one comments.
  • Defied:
    • Alice says that it's real fur, and she doesn't care what the animal rights activists say.
    • Alice is an animal rights activist, and argues that not even fake fur is acceptable because it still propagates the fashion.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: As one of Alice's friends pets the fur, she wonders if it's real. We don't see Alice's answer.
  • Played For Laughs: Alice tries going Naked in Mink to seduce Bob, but before she does any Sexy Coat Flashing, Bob spoils the mood by calling on her for wearing fur, and she has to insist it's fake.
  • Played For Horror: It's not that the fur isn't real. Alice isn't. She's been a store mannequin the whole time...

Don't worry. This is just a faux link to It's Fake Fur, It's Fine.
