- Straight: Bob is seeking to spend his eternity in hell.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob does whatever he can to be the most irredeemable person worthy of hell.
- Bob is well aware that he is already been damned a long time ago, he continues to do worse things to earn his way into increasingly lower and more torturous circles of hell.
- Downplayed: Bob is shown saying "Heaven for the atmosphere, Hell for the company" or something to that effect, but he doesn't become evil or seek out death.
- Justified:
- Bob thinks he's crossed the Moral Event Horizon and there's nothing for him to redeem himself of it in the eyes of others.
- Bob believes that hell is a fun place.
- Bob considers heaven to be even worse.
- One of Bob's loved ones is in hell.
- Deconstructed: It works. but, it turns out that Satan lied about hell being fun and he gets to live an eternity of torment, regretting his decision.
- Bob kills and eats Alice because he doesn't want to take any chances in the 'go to Hell' plan. After his death it turns out there's no afterlife in his setting.
