Basic Trope: Object that looks innocent turns out to be deadly.

  • Straight: A My Little Phony toy is, in fact, a pocket nuke.
  • Exaggerated: A My Little Phony toy can destroy the universe if it's submerged in water.
  • Downplayed: The My Little Phony toy is very sturdily made, making it a deadly Improvised Weapon.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: A big, bulky and beeping object with a countdown timer turns out to be absolutely harmless.
  • Subverted: The Big Bad states that the My Little Phony toy that the hero's child is holding is a nuke. Later, it turns out he lied, and the toy is harmless.
  • Double Subverted: ...and then it explodes.
  • Parodied: The My Little Phony toy is avoided by characters at all cost and when somebody speaks ill of it, everyone panics, looking at it. It gets up and promptly delivers Cluster F-Bomb to ill-sayer, then comes back to its place.
  • Zig Zagged: A Mad Scientist presents a My Little Phony toy and everybody assumes it's a weapon in disguise. It's not, it's a toy he made for his daughter. Later it turns out that it was made of highly dangerous materials, making it potentially deadly, but repeated tests show it's harmless, even if it's Made of Indestructium. Only later somebody pokes it, and it starts smoking dangerously. Everybody runs away and the toy starts spawning bees. People sigh in relief... but it turns out to be a Bee-Bee Gun.
  • Averted: Every dangerous object is clearly labeled as such.
  • Enforced: The producers wanted the show to feature explosions, but they didn't want to include weapons in a children show, so they made them look harmless instead.
  • Lampshaded: "Who'd think such a cute thing could be so deadly?"
  • Invoked: The Big Bad disguises his bomb as a toy because people would assume it's harmless or a joke.
  • Exploited: Moral Guardians who tried to ban My Little Phony toys use this situation to ban all My Little Phony toys.
  • Defied: Upon finding a My Little Phony toy in the Big Bad's lab, the hero torches it, just to be on the safe side.
  • Discussed: Two characters stand in front of a toy shop display and wonder if one of the toys is a bomb in disguise.
  • Conversed: Two characters talk about a film in which a My Little Phony toy turned out to be a bomb.
  • Implied: We're shown a kid at a party receiving a My Little Phony toy. Seconds later, the building he's in explodes.
  • Deconstructed: The Big Bad is shown having problems with fitting a nuke into the shape of a My Little Phony toy, and the toy ends up being big and bulky. Moreover, a quick security check before allowing the "toy" to the party reveals that it emits radiation like crazy, leading to discovery of the Big Bad's plan.
  • Reconstructed: Problems above happen, but the Big Bad labels the "toy" as "New My Little Mega Phony!", thus explaining the size. Security checks the toy, but it can be detonated by radio, so when the Big Bad notices that its harmful potential is discovered, he pushes the Big Red Button and everything in the toy's vicinity turns to mist.
