Basic Trope: Someone gasps for air after being resurrected/revived.

  • Straight: After Charlie comes Back from the Dead, he bolts upward and gasps for air.
  • Exaggerated: Charlie has been dead for a while. When he's resurrected, he gasps for several minutes straight.
  • Downplayed: Charlie's heart stops momentarily. When he's revived with a Magical Defibrillator, he takes a deep breath and/or coughs.
  • Justified:
    • Charlie didn't have any air in his lungs when he died, and the force of being resurrected suddenly brought air back into his lungs, causing him to gasp.
    • Alternatively, he's taking a deep breath in order to get more air into his lungs.
  • Inverted:
    • For some reason, Charlie exhales dramatically after getting resurrected.
    • Charlie exhales as he dies.
  • Subverted: After getting resurrected, Charlie gasps... and then falls down dead again.
  • Double Subverted: He gets successfully resurrected a little later, and takes a deep breath as his first sign that he's alive.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • Nobody gasps for air after getting resurrected.
    • Nobody is resurrected/revived to begin with.
  • Enforced: As the first sign that Charlie is alive.
  • Lampshaded: "Wait - I just saw him breathe suddenly! He's okay!"
  • Invoked: Alice tries to induce the reflex that will cause Charlie to gasp for air when reviving him.
  • Exploited: Emperor Evulz is about to win the battle, and cites Charlie's death as a reason why he can win, due to Charlie being the best fighter of the group. Then they all hear Charlie start gasping for air...
  • Defied: Charlie is prevented from being resurrected.
  • Discussed: "Woah, looks like you really were skilled at CPR!"
  • Conversed: "You ever notice how in the movies, characters gasp after they come back to life?"
  • Implied: Charlie being resuscitated isn't shown onscreen, but other characters are shown telling him later on that the first thing he did was suddenly bolt upward and gasp for air.
