- The questions are trivia about a subject Bob knows nothing about.
- They ran out of smart contestants and had to pick the dumbest ones instead.
- Bob is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Inverted: Bob is a certified genius and the questions are far too easy for him.
- Role-Inverted: Bob knows all the answers, but the host has no idea how to run a game show.

- Bob's answer turns out to be correct through some Insane Troll Logic.
- Bob corrects himself before he gets the answer wrong.
- Bob somehow gets the answer right through sheer dumb luck.

- After getting an answer right, Bob immediately blows it on the next question.
- Bob gets the answer right, but breaks some other rule that causes him to lose the game.
- Parodied: A scripted game show exaggerates the typical stupidity of game show contestants for comedic value.
- Zig Zagged: Bob sometimes has reasonable answers and sometimes has stupid answers.
- Averted: Bob provides reasonable answers to the questions.
- Enforced: The author didn't know the real answer to the questions, so he made up a dumb incorrect answer for Bob to say.

- Somebody tampered to make the questions all about subjects Bob doesn't know well at all.

- Implied: We don't see the actual game show, but we see Bob leaving the studio much earlier than expected.
