Basic Trope: At the end of an episode, the narrator asks some questions, hinting that answers will be in the next episode.

  • Straight: An episode of Trope Mysteries ends with the narrator saying, "Will Hiro and Lydia make it to Emperor Evulz's fortress? What will happen to Daniel? Who is Misty, and what are her intentions? What is Dracone planning? Find out next time!"
  • Exaggerated: The episode ends with a recap of every unresolved "issue" in it.
  • Downplayed: The only thing said in the end of the episode is "Will Hiro defeat Emperor Evulz? Find out next time."
  • Justified: ???
  • Inverted: The episode opens with a series of questions, followed by "Find out now!".
  • Subverted: The narrator tries to ask a question, but the credits cut him off.
  • Double Subverted: He asks his questions after the credits instead.
  • Parodied:
    • "Will Hiro and Lydia make it to Emperor Evulz's fortress? What will happen to Daniel? Who is Misty, and what are her intentions? What is Dracone planning? Will Princess Anne finally find shoes that match her dress? Find out next time!"
    • "Will Hiro and Lydia reach Evulz's fortress? Will they find a way to enter it? Will they fight against Evulz? Will they win? How will they celebrate their victory, should they win? Find out next time!"
    • "Will Hiro defeat Emperor Evulz? Find out next time. (Beat) You know I'm not that creative! Make up more questions yourself!"
    • The following Running Gag:
      End of Episode 1:
Narrator: Will Hiro defeat Emperor Evulz? Find out next time!
      End of Episode 2:
Narrator: Will Hiro defeat Emperor Evulz? I know, I messed up last time and said it too early. Find out next time!
      End of Episode 4:
Narrator: Will Hiro defeat Emperor Evulz? I swear, it'll be determined soon. Find out next time!
      End of Episode 7:
Narrator: Will Hiro defeat Emperor Evulz? This time, it's for real! I promise! Find out next time!
      End of Episode 8:
      Narrator: Will Hiro defeat... nevermind.
    • Two narrators start arguing about what questions are and aren't important.
    • A Show Within a Show uses this. The questions take longer than the show itself.
    • All the questions are completely irrelevant to the plot.
    • "...Will I ever stop asking these stupid questions to build up tension? Find out next time!"
    • The narrator proposes a completely insane theory about what will happen in the next episode.
    • The narrator accidentally reveals a massive spoiler.
    • The narrator suggests a really obvious connection. For instance, if there's only one known MacGuffin diamond sceptre in the series, the narrator will ask stuff like "What has happened to Princess Anne's diamond sceptre?" and "What is this sceptre that Dracone has stolen?".
    • "Will Rob finally decide on which cheese he should buy? Will Juliet finally locate the blue marble that fell under the couch? Will Sal make a sandwich with rye or pumpernickel? Find out next time! Oh, and also that thing about Emperor Evulz."
    • "Tune in next week, when these and other questions… will remain unanswered."
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: The narrator doesn't ask questions at the end of the episode.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded:
Lydia: Hey, why is that guy asking about what's going to happen?
Hiro: He's called 'the narrator', and I don't know what his purpose is.
  • Invoked: Hiro tells the Interactive Narrator to give a quick list of reasons to watch the exciting new episode.
  • Exploited: Characters hear the narrator and use the information they get.
  • Defied: Hiro tells the Interactive Narrator to shut up.
  • Discussed: "I wonder if some weird guy will tell about what will be resolved next time."
  • Conversed: "Is it really necessary to ask 'Will Hiro survive the Cliffhanger ending?' five seconds after we see the cliffhanger?"
