Basic Trope: Somebody with elemental power over earth.

  • Straight: Terra can cause sandstorms and earthquakes.
  • Exaggerated: Terra can move Earth around as if it was her personal spaceship.
  • Downplayed: Terra can make earth rumble around her.
  • Justified: Terra is this world's goddess of earth.
  • Inverted: Terra can control all elements save for earth.
  • Subverted: Terra appears to have caused an earthquake, but the event turns out to have been unrelated.
  • Double Subverted: The earthquake was magical and Terra soon starts having a power to cause her own.
  • Parodied: Earth is sentient and not amused with Terra's attempts to control it.
  • Zig Zagged: Terra seems able to cause earthquake and sandstorms, but her Flat-Earth Atheist friend keeps on finding natural causes for her feats. Sometimes she feels powerful enough that she could move Earth out of its orbit, but when she tries to show it, she only manages to make the earth around her rumble a bit.
  • Averted: There are no elemental powers in this world.
  • Enforced: Knowing that most heroes control some "cooler" elements, the writer decided to make his main character control earth for the sake of novelty.
  • Lampshaded: "You think you can run from me?"
  • Invoked: Goddess Gaia makes Terra her representative among mortals, thus giving her earth powers.
  • Exploited: Villain Evulz has a flying ship as his evil lair so that Terra's powers would be useless when confronting him.
  • Defied: Earth is purposefully drained from magic to prevent anyone from using it.
  • Discussed: "Well, here's fire mage John, water witch Ann, air shaman Lauren... do you have an earth sorceress by any chance?"
  • Conversed: "It's nice to see a main character who doesn't control fire, air or water. I think earth is very underrepresented in kid's shows."
  • Implied: The heroes pass a wrecked landscape full of earth spires, clashing dunes and the like and their guide tells them that in the ancient times, a great battle took place there.
  • Deconstructed:
    • An earthquake caused in a wrong place causes a landslide speeding towards a small town.
    • A sandstorm blinds Terra's allies and makes her unable to see where her enemies are.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Terra uses her powers to create a stone wall to stop the landslide.
    • Terra stops the sandstorm from injuring her allies, trapping her enemies in it.
  • Played For Laughs: Terra's first attempt at creating a sandstorm ends with her having sand everywhere.
  • Played For Drama: Terra's earthquakes make her a Destructive Savior and a rather disliked character in public eyes.
