Basic Trope: The aspect ratio switches throughout the film.
- Straight: The opening scene is in 1.85:1, but all scenes after that are 2.35:1.
- Exaggerated:
- Half the film is in 1.33:1 and the other half is in 2.76:1.
- The film keeps changing ratios for no apparent reason.
- Downplayed:
- The opening is in 2.00:1 (Univisium), while the rest is in 2.35:1.
- The opening is in 14:9why? , while the rest is in 4:3.
- Justified: The film is based on a TV series, and so the opening is in a smaller aspect ratio to mimic the look of the TV show.
- Inverted: The opening is in 2.35:1 while the rest is in 1.85:1.
- Subverted: Bob appears to push the borders in the opening, but he's really pushing two people out of the way and so the film retains its original aspect ratio.
- Double Subverted: Until the next scene that is.
- Averted: The aspect ratio is the same throughout the entire film.
- Parodied:
- The borders end up playing with the characters for messing with them.
- Instead of using a Letterbox, curtains on screen open up to reveal more of the image.
- Played for Laughs: The frame opens from 2.35:1 to 1.85:1 to emphasize Bathos
- Played for Horror: The frame closes in to create claustrophobia.
