Basic Trope: A song about someone growing up.

  • Straight: In "Tropers: The Musical", one of the first musical numbers is about the main characters Alice and Bob growing from kids to adults.
  • Exaggerated: Alice and Bob are both examples of a Cradle To Grave Character, and there are plenty of songs about their entire lives.
  • Downplayed: There is a song about Alice and Bob's Coming of Age, growing from teenagers to adults.
  • Justified: Well, people grow up.
  • Inverted: For some reason, a song about Alice and Bob de-aging occurs.
  • Subverted: Alice and Bob sing the Age-Progression song, and appear to age, but it's shown to merely be a mutual fantasy on their part and they're still kids. Later, their future is shown and it's very different from what they speculated.
  • Double Subverted: ???
  • Parodied: The song starts out with Alice and Bob as singing zygotes and progresses until they're singing skeletons, piles of dust, and ghosts. The song goes on 'til the heat death of the universe. The audience dies of starvation and dehydration.
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: There are no songs about someone growing up.
  • Enforced: "Tropers: The Musical" started with A Minor Kidroduction. You connect the dots.
  • Lampshaded: Charlie encounters the point where the musical number takes place, and comments that walking in that location makes him feel like he's getting older.
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Alice and Bob find a way to stay children forever, and sing about that instead.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
