- Exaggerated: Steven Ulysses Perhero is scared of even shocking someone.

- Steven Ulysses Perhero is afraid of accidentally causing mass destruction.
- Steven Ulysses Perhero treats his lighting powers with healthy respect for their capacity to deal damage, and religiously follows the rules of gun safety with them.
- Justified: Steven Ulysses Perhero nearly killed his sidekick Charlie with his powers, and he doesn't want it to happen again.
- Inverted: Steven Ulysses Perhero is reckless with his abilities.
- Subverted: Before being granted lightning powers, Steven was concerned about the possibility of not having control over them. Those concerns vanish the moment he obtains the powers though.
- Double Subverted: Then he gets a new, uncontrollable superpower that is even more dangerous than his original lightning ones.
- Parodied: Steven gives out free rubber suits to every ally or civilian he meets.
- Zigzagged: Steven's level of concern for the people around him varies by episode.
- Averted: Steven Ulysses Perhero has no fear of his own powers, but is also careful with them.
- Enforced:
- The executives want us to know that Steven is a good guy, so they give him an intense worry about what his powers could do.
- The executives want to give Steven a source of Angst, so they make him afraid of the abilities he has to use all the time.

- "You know, even with all the supervillains he's faced, I think Steven is most afraid of his own powers."
- "I don't know what I'm capable of... And I hope I never have to find out."
- Invoked: Alice, Steven's girlfriend, is concerned about him using his powers irresponsibly, so she sets up an incident where someone fakes injuries from his powers so that Steven will take care.
- Exploited: Dr. Evilstein commits crimes that would require Steven to push the limits of his abilities to stop.
- Defied: Steven is a Psycho Electro Anti-Hero who doesn't care about the destruction his lightning powers can cause.
- Discussed: "So, do you think a person like that would be afraid to do anything? What about the damage his powers could do?"
- Conversed: ???
- Implied: Steven retreats or Fights Like a Normal rather than use his powers when Dr. Evilstein attacks a crowded shopping mall.
- Deconstructed: Steven's fear of using his abilities leads to him being defeated when his powers could have saved him. Or, in a moment of desperation or overwhelming rage, he loses control of his abilities and causes even more damage than he feared because he never learned to control them.
- Reconstructed: The incident causes him to seek training or equipment capable of helping him control his powers, because it's going to happen again and he can't take the risk of not controlling these powers.
