Overly Long Name / Comic Books

• In the Tintin story The Calculus Affair, Tintin hitches a ride from a stereotypical Italian character. True to the stereotype, the Italian guy drives recklessly and is eventually pulled over by the local police. After giving his full name◊, the gendarme lets him off with a warning rather than bother to write it down.
• In The Ballad of Halo Jones, the alien Proximen have to buy words to add to their names, making name length an indicator of class. A Proximan in a position of political power, for instance, is called 'Procurator Bandaged Ice That Stampedes Inexpensively Through A Scribbled Morning Waving Necessary Ankles', whereas one encountered by the heroine at a bus stop tells her, "Name is Snivelling. When can afford second word in name, will be Snivelling Earthquake."
• Cable: Cable's name is Nathan Dayspring Charles Christopher Summers, sometimes appended with Askani'Son (which technically is his title, not his name) or Soldier X—leading Deadpool to add things like "Priscilla" and "Gesundheit" to the middle.
  • This is actually a fusion of two different "full" names (each rather long in its own right) that Cable went by at different points in his life: his birth name, Nathan Charles Christopher Summers and the name he was raised under in the distant future, Nathaniel Dayspring Askani'Son. After reconciling with his father (and realizing that his adopted father in the future was actually his real father inhabiting a cloned body), he frequently used "Nathan Dayspring Summers" as a shortened version.
• In X-Wing Rogue Squadron, Plourr Illo's true name is revealed to be Isplorrdacartha Estillo. All of the royal family of her homeworld, Eiattu VI, had names like that: her father was Uthorrferrell Cartha, her brother was Harrandatha Estillo. Other nobles, including her cousin and fiance Rial Pernon, have easier to spell names.
• From The Authority: Seth Angus Bubba Joe Billy Cletus Clement Callum Cowie. Named for his "eight handsome uncles who slam dunked his mama on that cold Christmas eve."
• Defoe has a character named If-Christ-Had-Not-Died-For-Thee-Thou-Wouldst-Be-Damned Jones.
  • Which is a slight variation on the full name of an actual famous Londoner (see Real Life).
• De Cape et de Crocs gives us:
  • Don Lope de Villalobos Y Sangrin;
  • Messire Armand Raynal de Maupertuis;
  • but the award goes to Herr Bombastus Johannes Theophrastus Almagestus Wernher von Ulm.
• In the Spanish comic Dino Kid one of the kid heroes decides to be called The Incredible Boy Able to Transform into All Kind of Birds (El Increíble Chico Capaz de Transformarse en Pájaros de Todo Tipo) after gaining avian transformative abilities.
• Castle Waiting has a minor character named Solicitous Kummernis Eutropia Dignifortis Uncumber Hulfe Reginfledes Liberata. Everyone just calls her Skeeter.
• Asterix in Corsica has the Corsican chieftain Boneywasawarriorwayayix.
• ''Spirou & Fantasio: The count's full name is Pacôme Hégésippe Adélard Ladislas, count of Champignac. It's often lampshaded.
• The Mickey Mouse Comic Universe has Eega Beeva. While that's easy to say it's actually a nickname everyone uses, the real name being Pittisborum Psercy Pystachi Pseter Psersimmon Plummer-Push (with a giant spit on the "Push"). It's such a mouthful that saying it twice in a row got him winded... Hence Mickey coming up with the nickname and everyone using it.
• When Hellcat was sent to Alaska, the ancient crones from the place gave her the spiritual name "Double Clawed Cat Full of Red Hell Fire With Her Head Against the Wind and Comes Not Quietly From the Great Sea Road". Her comment on it was "Like I'm going to remember that."
• The main protagonist of El Cazador is named Donessa Cinzia Elena Marie Esperanza Diego-Luis Hidalgo. Little wonder that her pirate crew take to calling her 'Lady Sin'.
• In the “threeboot” and current versions of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Princess Projectra’s full name is Wilimina Morgana Daergina Annaxandra Projectra Velorya Vauxhall. “Jeckie” to her friends.
• In The Flash Wally West met a character named Lucinda Delgado-Manichi-Wescott-Anderson-Danforth-Jackson-Washington-Firth-LeVeaux-Bering-McGrath-Brozowski-Manning-Thomas-Gould. She was known as "8".
• The leading superhero team in Dr. Blink: Superhero Shrink is the Avenging Legion of Titan Justice Defenders Society of America League. It was chosen by a super-chimp.
  "And was this chimp charging us by the hour, or by the syllable?"
  • Then there's the hero named "Scarlet Guy Who Can Transmute Flesh To Metal Every Other Day Of Any Month Ending In A 'Y'".
• Astro City:
  • The Working Group on Unsettling Anomalies Classification and Contamination, otherwise known as the Blasphemy Boys.
  • The Steel-Jacketed Man shortened his name to Steeljack.
