"Something is wrong with the animals. But you can save them. You can discover the cause of the infection, you can create a vaccine and cure them."

"You've got nothing to worry about." Yeah right.

Welcome to your new job as the nightly zookeeper. You have to make sure that all of the animals are properly fed, interact with them, make sure they remain in their enclosures, find the ones that are horrifically mutated by a parasite, and do not die.

Being an indie horror game, Zoochosis serves as a reminder that, if you want to rescue the animals, you'll have to endure a whole lot of horrors to get there, especially since this page was created after two trailers.

    Pre-Release
  • Just the general premise of the game. A mysterious parasite has made its way into the zoo you're working at, and if it finds its way into an animal, it mutates them into horrific, bloodthirsty monsters that would give the Thing a run for its money.
  • While it hasn't been mentioned elsewhere, the Steam page indicates that one of your missions is to "Unravel the mystery of the zoo". Having to deal with a parasitic outbreak is bad enough, but what else could be lurking within the zoo grounds that warrant that description?
  • When the game was first announced via the Announcement Trailer, it pulled no punches:
    • The beginning starts innocently, with Paul entering the giraffe enclosure. But when one of them vomits, its infrared sensors reveal a high temperature. Then it violently grows extra spider-like legs and escapes.
    • When the man talking to you on the phone reassures you that you have nothing to worry about, a hand with a lot more fingers slams against the train's window.
    • The whole body bag scene. Not helping is that whatever is inside of it is still alive, the sound crescendo when it falls into the grinder, and Paul's lack of reaction or hesitance to flip the switch.
      • And when its meat is investigated, a creature, presumably the parasite, emerges from it, hisses at you, and crawls away.
      • It is even worse if you assume that the body bag, considering the general shape, contains a human. While not confirmed, it can be a major red flag regarding a possible conspiracy in the zoo.
    • In the final scene, Paul investigates the kangaroo enclosure, and one of them hops to another part of the area. When Paul is cornered, he sees the kangaroo, clutching to the wall with a Belly Mouth full of teeth before it leaps at the player in a Jump Scare.
  • Only the giraffes and kangaroos have confirmed mutations via the Announcement Trailer, while the other animals haven't revealed their mutations. But the Future Game Show Spring Showcase reveals a new one, the zebra. In an extended clip from the Announcement Trailer where Paul discovers a mauled zebra, he finds a second one that is mutated. It runs backwards, the black stripes resemble veins, it has fleshy tendrils and coral-like formations protruding from its back, runs at very fast speeds, and its entire head is reduced to a collapsed, alien mess.
