And thus begins the romance between a lady... and a dead body.

Given that this is an anthology of ominous stories that are paranormal by even JoJo standards (essentially putting the "bizarre" in the series' title), this is to be expected.

  • The ending of "At a Confessional" is incredibly disturbing. After the rich man manages to deftly pass two of the ghostly vagrant's popcorn challenges, he fails the third and is immediately decapitated right in front of his daughter. But wait; given that he's telling the story to Rohan, how could he have died? Then Rohan hears a groaning noise coming from behind the man, and sees the ghost of what appears to be the rich man crawling on the ground, holding his still-severed head. The ghost reveals that he is actually the man's servant, and the rich man used plastic surgery to swap their faces and use the servant as a body double, causing the servant to die in the rich man's stead. He then repeats an Ironic Echo of the original beggar's curse upon the rich man. The ghost of the original beggar also crawls into the room, clearly not having given up after being fooled, and the storyline ends with the rich man hurriedly leaving the room as both crawl after him. This is thankfully punctuated by Okuyasu and Yukako comically chiming in, but it's still quite disturbing.
Servant: You who paid me off to surgery discard my old face and take on yours only to throw me into the maw of such a terrifying nightmare without even a second thought, I will never forgive you... I will bear this grudge 'till the end of time!
(The rich man is now shown with the face of the servant)
Rich Man: So, you're able to follow me, even into the church...
Servant: Listen closely to my words... the day which your sweet, dear daughter cherishes more than any other will be the day that I come to exact my revenge!
Beggar: Can't let him out of your sight 'till then. Otherwise, he'll just cook up another one of those dirty tricks. Wherever you may trek, we'll be one step behind you always!
  • In "Mutsu-Kabe Hill", Rohan goes to a mountainous area that is said to be haunted. The story behind said haunting? A young woman accidentally killed her boyfriend, but his body bleeds copiously even after he's dead. She hides his corpse under her house, becomes obsessed with it, and somehow has a child with it. Then, while exploring the mountains, Rohan bumps into a girl who begins to bleed the same way. It turns out that the girl (and her father, the corpse) were possessed by some sort of Yōkai that reproduces by creating an intense obsession in the people who 'kill' its host; in other words, you're brainwashed into loving a supernatural parasite inside a dead body.
  • The entire atmosphere of "Millionaire Village" and its premise thrives off nightmares. Young people come into possession of great wealth and power at the age of 25, but must live in this isolated mountain area ruled by the gods of the mountain. Not so bad? Well they all gained their power via passing a test of Equivalent Exchange via the Etiquette Nazi gods; and JAPANESE etiquette at that! Fail even one aspect of etiquette as simple as stepping on the corners of a tatami mat or sitting in the wrong chair? And you lose something very dear to you as payment. When Rohan and his publisher Kyoka Izumi take the test and fail 3 times? Kyoka loses her mother and boyfriend in a car accident. Then the baby bird Rohan had rescued explodes into blood and insects in his pocket... and when the Gods try to keep them from leaving? The trees begin to sway and contort into Nightmare Faces! Almost like they’re ACTUALLY moving...
  • Throughout "The Run", Yoma Hashimoto gets incredibly angered by several people, including a deliveryman and his girlfriend, but he doesn't seem to follow up on his anger at any point. That is, until Rohan uses Heaven's Door on him during their competition, and learns that he murdered them all (as well as a random guy who unknowingly stole his fitness trainer) at some undisclosed point and buried their bodies in cement. Yoma also shows some Body Horror at points, with some of his muscles distorting into the shape of wings. Ultimately, Rohan manages to use Heaven's Door to eject him out a window, but as he's launched out he repeats Rohan's name in a hoarse, contemptuous tone. Rohan comes to the conclusion that Yoma is an avatar of Hermes (not the character from part 6, but the actual Greek god), and realizes that Yoma likely isn't dead and is waiting just under the window, ready to strike when he approaches. After this, Rohan wisely decides to run out the building, hoping he never crosses paths with Yoma again. And the story ends like that.
    • The shot of Yoma climbing the outside of the apartment. The way it’s framed looks like something out of Junji Ito’s work, with Yoma's body looking horribly contorted.
    • The anime is worse as the beginning where he recounts the story has him looking around the room, terrified out of his mind at the mere possibility Yoma Hashimoto could be close by.
  • The entire concept behind the Yabubako-Hoshi. Imagine just looking into a mirror, and the next thing you know three months have gone by in the blink of an eye, with no way of getting said time back. And during those three months, an identical copy of yourself has been running around, unleashing your inner-most darkest thoughts and desires, doing whatever it feels like. And it's identical down to your very D.N.A, meaning you can't claim that it wasn't really you. It is possible to erase the effects of the Yabubako-Hoshi, but to do so you need to get close enough to rotate the mirror, risking losing another three months. Not even a Stand can be used to get around this as Rohan finds out when he loses another three months, meaning the only solution is to have someone else take your place. Had Rohan not made Eve take his place, he would've been trapped in a relationship with a crazy fan with a child he never wanted.
