Spoilers below, and turned off by policy:

Despite being an RPG with 16 bit graphics, the series has a lot of gore.

  • The Phantom Slasher itself. It's a pitch black, silent figure, and might appear anywhere out of blue, only to murder someone without uttering a word. And worst of all, it can't be killed with conventional means. Even worse, the very reason it exists is Rhue wielding a shadow sword.
  • The way how Shadow Swords work, particularly the ability to absorb multiple auras, along with personalities and memories of their victims! "Rhue" known for the whole game isn't Rhue actually, as it's revealed in the ending. His self before slaying Jeruh was that of Midian, and it's implied he absorbed Kava's aura long time before the game starts. This is also the possible reason why Rhue doesn't recognize his reflection in every mirror he comes across.
  • In episode 2, The Barrucha, and travelling through the cave seeing the people you once met at a town not so long ago brutally decapitated by it.
  • The destruction of Estrana in episode 5, as well as travelling through it and passing by many corpses, including children.
  • Being trapped in Dream Estrana, a ghost town that is a manifestation of Rhue's sword aura, and possibly auras of people he killed with it earlier. The city itself is rather eerie and is surrounded by a red void.
  • Lots of dungeons of the game are spooky, but Altair Manor from Episode 6 is the worst offender; the Jester's laugh combined with spooky music and darkness is unnerving.
