Thompson's shooting spree takes him to an oil refinery overlooking the highway, where he begins sniping with terrifying accuracy at cars driving by... and at anyone getting out of their cars to help.
The truly creepy part about this scene is how calm Thompson is during his attack. Before he even begins he casually eats a sandwich and drinks a soda, as if there's nothing wrong about what he's doing.
The shooting at the Drive-In Theater, especially with the scene where we see a crying kid in a car, then it pans to his father, dead in his car seat, a gunshot rings out, and suddenly the kid stopscrying.
