Nightmare Fuel / Shutendoji

• Jiro's nightmares. For him are inexplicable bad dreams, but for his parents, who know the strange story of his origin, finding out he's dreaming with oni means something terrible is gonna happen.
• Miyuki in the clutches of the Ketsumei delinquents is bad enough, given that they seem too eager to have fun with her body. That alone would give any regular girl a few years at therapy, but then the leader of the guys reveals himself to be a huge monstrous creature, which then starts licking her naked body with a creepy long tongue. And she can only scream and scream...
• The idea that any of your loved ones could be a ravenous monster in disguise, especially when they reveal their monstrous true form and tell you the real person will surely die slowly tortured.
  • The fake Kyoko Jiro sees in the pocket dimension, which he starts strangling once he realizes everything was an illusion. She doesn't stop crying while he does, claiming the oni have taken over his mind and are forcing him to do so. What if it was real and our hero accidentally murdered his own mother?
  • When the fake Miyuki confronts Mrs. Tanemura in the former's flat, she gets them both of them naked and then vomits horrifically a demonic salamander to take over the teacher's body. An even worse, we are given a closeup of her upper body that implies the critter is entering her body through her vagina.
• The female cultist Jiro faces at battle against the Demon Buddhists. She takes the shape of an abnormally lanky nude woman, complete with Game Face and Prehensile Hair, who even can summon giant hands from the ground. Luckily, it’s all an illusion, but the viewer will soon get to see worse things, and they will be for real.
• Yonen summoning Ryuichiro, Kyoko and Miyuki strapped to crosses and floating a good 300 feet over the ground. Had not Goku saved Ryuichiro from the fall when the baddie dropped him, the result would have not been nice.
  • Of course, Miyuki is stripped nude again in the process.
• The hologram mindscan Jiro is subjected to in the Alphard spaceship. First, small oni show up in the recreation, then a version of Kyoko comes out, then it is Kitani in his demon form biting away his own hands, and then it all turn into an abominable, Tetsuo-esque mutation that suffocates Kyoko, horrifically animated through the way.
• The flashback of baby Jiro appearing from thin air in Ongokukai. Upon seeing him, the oni suddenly stop killing each other and start moving towards him, among his cries, with the clear intention to kill and/or devour him. The sight of such a small and nude baby about to be seized by bloodthirsty monsters is truly terrifying.
• When Jiro and company reach Ongokukai, a cluster of hideous tentacle-mouths burst from a red water pond, trap Senki and drag him under the surface. We don't see the whole monster yet, which makes it even worse, but the fact that there is something in that world that can take out The Big Guy without effort is truly frightening.
• And then we get the owner of the tentacles, the final oni. Although his form is only mildly impressive, looking like a furry Go Nagai liger, he's bigger than any other oni found in the series, and his sadistic talk about devouring Jiro make it clear he's not out to make friends.
  • Jiro jumps on his chest and sinks his light sword on the demon's throat, but instead of killing him, it only makes the oni sprout more of his tentacle-mouths from the wound and capture the boy.
  • The oni also pulls out Senki clasped in his tail as a hostage, and although they manage to cut the tail, it still attacks them with more tentacules on its own. They grab Miyuki, tear away her kimono and stretch her nude body high in the air for all to see. Even worse, then it presents her and Jirou with an illusion of him easily killing Goki and Senki.
  • After engaging in verbal sadism a bit more, the demon slowly pulls Jiro in towards his throat wound, which becomes a round fanged mouth. While the boy screams and struggles, the mouth chomps on his torso and then swallows him whole.
  • Even after Jiro manages to get out of the demon’s body and Senki and Goki prove to be alive, the damn monster is not done!
• Kyoko's Reality Warper powers. The possibility of bringing horrible pictures to life is a world of horror.
