Awaken, the existence that subjugates gods and slaughters devils.

  • The very existence of Mazinger ZERO itself. Created by a megalomaniacal version of Koji's grandfather Juzo Kabuto from another timeline and sustained through a stable timeloop, ZERO is limitless in its power, easily capable of effortlessly ending entire universes. It hates the very idea that other Super Robots could be allowed to exist, both in and out of universe as it fears it will be forgotten by the world, and even goes as far as to merge all realities into a single world where Mazinger and Mazinger alone is an international media icon and the only mecha series to exist, period. It takes the combined efforts of every mecha in fiction teaming up to take it down, and only after Koji convinces it that it will never be forgotten, and that it will live on through the stories it inspired.
  • The film used as an Exposition Dump for the timeline the majority of the manga takes place in, describing Dr. Hell's rise to power and the fact that there's nowhere left for humanity as the rest of the destroyed world belongs to Dr. Hell.
  • Of special note is the fate of the people captured by Hell, stripped of their clothing and left to pile together in a massive empty room until giant mechanical hands appear without warning scooping up enormous droves of people like so many potato chips. At first it seems just like a nightmarishly sadistic way to kill people but things become more clear later. First a King's daughter and wife are scooped up by the hands leaving him screaming fruitlessly at Dr. Hell for answers, then his daughter's bloody scalp lands in front of him causing him to scream in horror. The true horror isn't made clear until we see some of the Iron Masks without their helmets, as those who didn't die outright from the sheer physical trauma of the hands were scalped and made into Iron Masks.
