- The Priest-King's Vivisection chamber and larder of butchered human remains is something that haunts Systlin and Foicacth for a long time, being brought up in subsequent installments as a reoccurring nightmare.

- Systlin breaking the army of house Lannister that comes to oust her after she takes the throne. Made even worse by thoroughly averting What Measure Is a Mook? and putting us in the view of a soon-to-be-traumatized Lannister soldier. We've seen the horrific consequences of breaking used before, but never from the receiving end. From the point of view of poor Lenn, hundreds of his comrades just start dropping dead, accompanied by the sound of their bones all shattering at once.
- A loving description of the aftermath is given two chapters later, at lengths describing the shapeless, bloody corpses left behind. The sight is so horrifying that it drives the High Septon to try and have Systlin assassinated.
