  • The confrontation with Penelope is scary watching it back and knowing what Lucas is capable of. You can clearly see him getting irritated, and on rewatch, you can't help but wonder if this is how bad his Hair-Trigger Temper is? If that's why he killed her?
  • The first kill. Lucas goes to use the bathroom, but instead of entering, he shuts the door. We're left wondering what's going on as Lucas climbs the steps and changes into a completely different outfit. The music rises in intensity as we see him grab a screwdriver and see his shadow creep across the wall, poising the screwdriver like a knife. The tension comes to a head as Lucas enters the room and we see who he's after: Penelope. We pan out and see the first shot of his mask, which is one of a vulture's skull. The mood is sickening when we see Lucas standing over Penelope, who is completely oblivious to this whole situation. He gets her to turn around, silences her scream, then drives his screwdriver into her face. Damn.
    • Also, just how normal Lucas is after this. He returns to Jake and is able to shrug off the murder he just committed and laugh with him. It's truly chilling.
  • The scene where Lucas tries to kill Jake in his sleep is definitely super suspenseful. You see his snarl as he stops pretending to be asleep and just know that shit's about to go down. And it almost does! You see him stand over Jake's couch just as he did to Penelope and raise his weapon in the air. He comes dangerously close to using it, too, before Jake thankfully starts to stir. Lucas rushes back to his bed and throws off his costume as Jake falls back asleep. Everything is okay. For now.
  • The scene where Jake accidentally wakes Lucas up is nothing short of nerve-wracking. This whole sequence is intercut between Jake's perspective as he mourns Penelope and Lucas's perspective as he prepares to kill Jake. It's filled with Dramatic Irony as Jake doesn't understand he just woke up the thing that killed his sister, and he screams in horror at the sight of his sister's body, but doesn't know the true danger until it's right behind him. The music represents this too, as the soft piano melody reflects Jake's mourning while the low Drone of Dread represents Lucas, on his way to kill Jake.
  • Then, Jake turns around to see Lucas. Jake screams in horror as he tries to run away, and actually puts up a good fight, knocking Lucas over as he tries to run around him. But this gives Lucas the perfect window to stab Jake in the foot, incapacitating him. Jake is hit in the head and passes out, looking up at what just doomed his life.
  • Then, The Reveal. At least, to Jake it is. Lucas tears off his mask to reveal his face, and Jake pleads with him. But Lucas is too far gone. There's a brief Hope Spot where Lucas is Caught Monologuing, which gives Jake time to tear off his binds and run away. But he falls, still suffering from his foot injury. Lucas taunts him before stabbing Jake through the mouth. Jake coughs up blood as Lucas walks away, a terrifying Slasher Smile on his face. Jake dies on the floor, in a pool of his own blood. What a way to end it.
