You can't run away from this granny...

  • The first chapter has moments like Turbo Granny cursing Okarun, turning him into a possessed insanely fast monster that bites people’s groins, and Ayase being abducted by aliens who make it clear how they intend to rape her and then remove her womb and other organs.
  • In a disturbingly plausible combination of believable and horrible, Acrobat Silky's mortal life consisted of selling her body out of desperation to care for her young daughter, and ended in suicide after her daughter was taken by human traffickers.
  • The Kito Family trying to rape Momo in a public bath during the Mongolian Death Worm arc. While it's not the first time something like this happened, it's far creepier due to the more realistic context.
  • Jiji came back from school one day to find his parents trying to hang themselves off the front balcony.
  • The Evil Eye was originally a young boy kept in an underground cell for the Kito family to sacrifice to their serpent god by tying him to a stake in front of an active magma flow. His spirit ended up haunting the place he died, on which the Kito had built a series of houses to gather and hide more sacrifices over the centuries. When the Evil Eye tried to make friends with a young boy who'd moved in, his bad psychic vibes drove his parents over the edge—same thing that happened to Jiji's folks if he hadn't made it in time—and the Kito family tied the boy to a chair and buried him with the house.
  • Vamola's backstory includes the near-total extinction of her people by the space globalists and witnessing the survivors being fed to a biomechanical weapons factory. It chews.
    • Midway through the backstory, after Vamola and her family suffered an ambush and retreat to a hiding spot, their despair is so great that Vamola asks her mother to kill her, because she'd rather die that way than by someone else's hand. Since this is a flashback, this is obviously not carried through, but it's bleak that her situation would be so bad that she would ask this.
