SpongeBob SquarePants games are no stranger to Call Backs, but due to this game being part of the franchise's tenth anniversary, the developers went out of their way to include as many references as possible.
- Fun Times Jellyfishing With Patrick (Jellyfish Fields):
- Jellyfish Rock can be seen at the very beginning.
- Placed throughout the level are jars and jellyfish jelly.
- The end of the level is set at the SpongeBob statues from "SpongeHenge".
- Meeting Sandy Cheeks! (Kelp Forest):
- The entire level is based on the events of "Tea at the Treedome."
- Right at the beginning is Club SpongeBob.
- The Happiness Items in this level include a heart-shaped acorn, the Magic Conch and Sandy's iced tea.
- During the dialogue with Sandy at the end of the level, SpongeBob makes a point of holding his pinky out, referencing the advice "when in doubt, pinky out" that Patrick gives him in "Tea at the Treedome".
- Squidward's Talent Show (Bikini Bottom rooftops, PSP only):
- The level is based on the events of "Culture Shock."
- The Happiness Items in this level include the Donut of Shame and SpongeBob's mop.
- Pretending to be Tough With Patrick is based on the scene from "No Weenies Allowed" where SpongeBob tries to stage a fight with Patrick in order to be allowed into The Salty Spitoon.
- Becoming a Fry Cook! (Jellyfish Fields):
- The level is (very loosely) based on "Help Wanted" and contains some elements from "SpongeBob vs. The Patty Gadget."
- Items for this level includes the #1 Soda Hat, Snellie's pet carrier, and a golden spatula.
- Santa! Santa! SANTA! (Krusty Krab's freezer):
- Before the level starts, SpongeBob attempts to remember who he met on Christmas Day and incorrectly guesses "David Hass-."
- This level is inspired by SpongeBob's first Christmas as depicted in "Christmas Who?," complete with Squidward appearing in a Santa costume throughout.
- One mechanic introduced in this level is wads of gum that SpongeBob can stretch out to hit distant objects. Visually, they're based on the titular wad from "The Gift of Gum."
- Happiness Items for this level include a paint palette, lint earmuffs and a toy clarinet.
- The boss stage Squidward's First Yummy Krabby Patty is based on the penultimate scene from "Just One Bite" where Squidward locks himself in the Patty Vault and gorges himself with sandwiches. Indeed, they go straight to Robo-Squidward's thighs, and then he blows up.
