- But Liquor Is Quicker: A gender-reversed version of this is in "Cold Gin."
- Cover Song: "Kissin' Time", originally by Bobby Rydell.
- Everything Is an Instrument: A fire engine siren sounds off at the end of "Firehouse".
- Face on the Cover: All four members of KISS, with Peter Criss in an early version of his Cat makeup.
- Instrumentals: "Love Theme From KISS".
- Intercourse with You: "Nothin' To Lose" chronicles the singer coercing his girlfriend into trying anal sex, and her subsequent enjoyment of it.
- Irony: Gene Simmons sings lead vocals on "Cold Gin". The irony is that Gene is the only member of KISS who doesn't drink.
- Ode to Intoxication: "Cold Gin", written by Ace Frehley, but sung by Gene Simmons (the teetotaler). Ace Frehley would cover his own song on his solo live concert tours.
- One-Word Title: "Strutter" and "Deuce".
- Precision F-Strike: In "100,000 Years":It must have been a bitch while I was gone.
- Record Producer: Kenny Kerner, Richie Wise.
- Self-Titled Album
- Updated Re-release: "Strutter" would be updated four years later for the Double Platinum Greatest Hits album.
- Vocal Tag Team: Paul, Gene, and Peter get in on singing "Kissin' Time".
