Three volumes were published in 2005, with the third one scarcer to find than the other two.
ezi provides examples of:
- Eyes Out of Sight: Ah Mao, the transfer student who loves to play golf, wears a green cap that covers his eyes. It doesn't stop him from excelling a sight test against Qiaokeli's expectation as he wishes to become a soldier.
- Funny Afro: Principal Jin Jijao's afro is subject to unusual haircuts (like getting sliced) or even hosting a bird nest.
- Grossout Show: The comics have more than a handful of icky gags involving feces or the characters exposing their buttocks or other parts of their bodies like when the boys are being attacked by dogs.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: In one strip where ezi wishes that he dies, donates his body to science, and stops the care of his dad, the latter starts chasing him and whacks him with a dead chicken.
- Intellectual Animal: Xiaohei, ezi's trusty little dog, passes a job application in one comic strip because the conditions don't exclude dogs and his abilities include typing 400 words per minute, designing computer programs, and speaking two languages (his second tongue being meowing).
- Interspecies Romance: When Qiaokeli sports an Elvis hairdo, he draws the romantic attraction of not human ladies, but an ambush of cats.
- Missing Mom: ezi's mother left behind her family when he was very young and apparently left behind only a bra.
- Not What It Looks Like: When ezi and his dad enter a bubblegum blowing competition inside their home, an outside lady glances at their silhouettes appearing to kiss each other and reacts with disgust.
- Shout-Out
- On his birthday, Qiaokeli receives a life-sized doll or cutout of Crayon Shin-chan.
- Two items in ezi's dad's collection are an Optimus Prime toy and a Sega Saturn.
- ezi and his dad crash through a Titanic (1997) billboard and substitute Rose and Jack's heads respectively in a depiction of the "I'm Flying" scene.
- They Killed Kenny Again: ezi (and Qiaokeli) die from a gunshot or a falling tree among other means, yet they return to life to maintain the status quo.
- Would Hurt a Child:
- Once, ezi gets smacked by a woman for befriending her pet cat.
- When ezi returns home with visible injuries and complains to his dad of his instructor utilizing force, the dad pays a visit to school and discovers Principal Jin Jijao encouraging her students to dance, thus subverting this.
