Zombie Girl Fujimi-san (Zonbi Shoujo Fujimi-san) is a manga written by Saito Ryo in 2020.
Nekuro Masaya was an Ordinary High-School Student with a rather cynical outlook on life and humanity. Little did he know that his life would soon change when the world suddenly came to an end via an unknown cataclysmic event, which also ended up somehow turning his popular classmate Rinne Fujimi into a zombie. The two decide to travel across Japan to figure out how to make Fujimi human again, all the while developing feelings for each other.
Tropes:
- After the End: The story takes place in Japan after an unknown cataclysmic event has wiped out most of humanity, leaving Nekuro and Fujimi as the only ones left. Until Chapter 7 anyway.
- Broken Ace: In addition to having health problems, Fujimi also had a very strict home life with parents who forbade her from doing things she wanted to do.
- Cursed with Awesome: Fujimi is very distraught about having turned into a zombie. However, she mentions that her health problems are gone and that she doesn’t need to eat anymore, which are positives for her.
- Delicate and Sickly: Prior to turning into a zombie, Fujimi suffered from health problems that made her body very weak.
- Find the Cure!: The story revolves around the main duo trying to find the cure for Fujimi's zombification so she can become human again. Turns out there is already one made, where the target will be cured but will lose their memories of the time they were a zombie.
- Our Zombies Are Different: Whatever wiped out humanity also turned Fujimi into a zombie. Her skin has turned blueish green and she has cracks and black marks all over her face and body. She can also fall apart rather easily, although her health problems are now nonexistent. It’s also not just her that got turned into a zombie either.
- Pulling Themselves Together: Fujimi’s body often falls apart easily whenever she stumbles or falls down. At least she has Nekuro to help put her back together when it happens.
- Wham Shot:
- The end of Chapter 7 has Nekuro finding a severed zombie arm on the ground, except Fujimi already has both of her arms. The arm is revealed to belong to another woman who also got turned into a zombie.
- The end of Chapter 9 introduces Hiroto Shiranase, Fujimi's fiance who in the following chapter reveals to have a cure for the zombie virus and explains the mechanics behind both of them.
