Sakura-chan to Amane-kun (sometimes called Sakura-chan and Amane-kun) is a romance comedy with a twist.
The series stars two characters: Souta Sakura and Miki Amane. They're two ordinary high schoolers with a shared secret: they're both closeted transgender kids.
This manga provides examples of:
- Gender-Blender Name: Sakura primarily goes by her androgynous surname.
- Gorgeous Gaijin: Alice Hinamiya is half-British, blonde, and hangs out with Amane enough that Sakura is slightly envious.
- Icy Blue Eyes: Amane is a stern boy with blue eyes.
- Indirect Kiss: On their date in Chapter 5, Amane takes a bite out of Sakura's crepe (even though he has his own), getting an indirect kiss (they had already had a real kiss in Chapter 1, though).
- Joshikousei: Sakura wears a Sailor Fuku her cousin Rumi gave her, though at school she still dresses like a boy.
- Last-Name Basis: Neither Sakura or Amane like their given names, but they haven't chosen new names either. Both instead are primarily referred to by their surnames.
