Go To

Actor Existence Failure can refer to one of the following:

  • The Character Died with Him: A character is explicitly killed off in-story after the actor who portrays them passes away. Formerly named "Actor Existence Failure".
  • Actor Existence Limbo: In animated works, a character appears on-screen while not speaking or with reused lines because they couldn't get the voice actor back, which could be because the actor passed away.
  • Character Outlives Actor: A character is implied to still be alive in the work's universe after an actor passes away, even though they never appear on-screen again.
  • Died During Production: Someone significant to the production, sometimes an actor, dies in the middle of a work's production.
  • Fatal Method Acting: An actor dies while performing in a role.
  • The Other Darrin: An actor replaces another actor in the same role, which can be because the original actor passed away.
  • The Other Marty: The original actor is replaced by a new actor mid-production, which can be because the original actor passed away.
  • An actor passes away without any of the above contexts, which is not a valid trivia item on its own.
