The Daughter of Evil: Wiegenlied of Green is the second Light Novel in The Daughter of Evil Light Novel series of the Evillious Chronicles franchise, a part of the Story of Evil series within said franchise. It was written by the Japanese producer mothy and illustrated by Ichika (cover done by Suzunosuke), released in 2011. The novel was sold along with a short story manga taking place within the events of the novel, called "Novelette of White." In 2014 PHP made a re-release of the novel with several revisions from mothy which expanded on several scenes.
Serving as a P.O.V. Sequel to the novel Cloture of Yellow, the story centers around the forest spirit Michaela and how she came to be killed in the Green Hunting, becoming human as a means to help the sorceress Elluka Clockworker and befriend the lonely village pariah, Clarith. As time goes on, she begins to understand for herself the joy of human relationships and their passionate feelings; unfortunately, as she isn’t going to last long as one.
While Michaela is the central protagonist, the story also develops the character of Elluka Clockworker introduced in Cloture, elaborating on her quest to find and seal the Demons of Sin; following Michaela's death, the plot also switches to Clarith as she tries to cope with the loss. The light novel is followed by Praeludium Of Red.
The story, in addition to Clôture of Yellow, has now received a manga adaptation by Ichika, the first volume of which is fan translated here

The story provides examples of:
- Aborted Declaration of Love: Allen backs out of telling Michaela he loves her while she is hidden and safe in the well. Michaela still takes notice of his feelings, but also realizes she can't love him back.
- Anguished Declaration of Love: Allen is only able to declare his love for Michaela after he finds her dying in the well. Michaela had previously received one from Clarith, who desperately tries to stall for time so the sleeping pill she gave her could take effect and Michaela could be taken to safety.
- Bittersweet Ending: Clarith is able to find peace in the monastery after Michaela’s death and even helps Rin become a better person, but she still lost the love of her life, and Rin still has to deal with immeasurable guilt for the rest of her’s. Meanwhile, Michaela may be dead, but she has Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence and will carry on Held’s duty.
- Dead Person Conversation: Michaela and Clarith are given a chance to talk one last time after the latter starts working in the church.
- Expository Hair Style Change: Following getting it cut by Clarith, Rin's hair being shorter and simply styled shows her as being less vain and closer to earth than in her youth.
- Foregone Conclusion: Michaela dying in the midst of the Green Hunting is apparent to anyone with any knowledge of the series beforehand, as it's brought up in Clôture of Yellow, it's adaptation, and at least half the songs in the series.
- Foreshadowing: The same scene that Kyle makes his declaration of love towards Michaela, Michaela senses Keel messing with the Venom Sword—foreshadowing the later reveal that Kyle was possessed by the Demon of Lust.
- Friendless Background: Clarith came from this during her life in Yatski, hated for her heritage.
- It's this that helps her to realize Rin also came from this, due to Lonely at the Top.
- Humanity Ensues: Willing variant for Michaela and Gumillia, who are turned human by Elluka in order to aid her quest.
- Important Haircut: Clarith gives one to Rin on the beach rather than stab her with the golden knife, signifying that she’s been forgiven and become The Atoner.
- In Vino Veritas: In "Novelette of White" Clarith, having gotten drunk and miserable by the end of the story, is comforted by Michaela; as a response, she blurts out a marriage proposal.
- Last Kiss: And only kiss, shared by Clarith and Michaela before the latter is forced by the former to hide in a well. Michaela is killed a couple of days later, and she is intangible when she appears to Clarith after this.
- Love at First Sight: With the novel focusing on Michaela’s point of view, it becomes apparent that at least half of all the men she runs into fall in love with her at first sight, including Allen and Kyle.
- Mistaken for Gay: When talking about her lack of interest in romantic relationships, Michaela words it in a way that sounds like she's saying she's not interested in men, and right as she realizes how it can be misinterpreted, Clarith laughs and tells her she's the same way. In a subversion, Michaela does later turn out to be attracted to women (or at least Clarith), though her views on men remain unclear.
- P.O.V. Sequel: Much like how the song "The Maiden of the Tree ~Millennium Wiegenlied~" is a POV Sequel for "The Daughter of Evil", the novel shows the events of Clôture of Yellow through Michaela’s perspective.
- Official Couple: Clarith and Michaela.
- Shrinking Violet: Clarith, particularly in the beginning, being too full of self-loathing to take the effort and approach other people.
- Survivor Guilt: Clarith felt this after the green-haired women were killed, especially for Michaela, whom she wishes she could have switched places with.
- Timeskip: A year passes for Michaela in the service of Keel Freezis, and not all of it shown.
- Another occurs between the time Riliane enters the monastery and when she confesses in view of Clarith, although it isn't emphasized.
- Tongue Trauma: Clarith bites down on her tongue when she learns that Michaela has been killed, and she starts to bleed so badly that the soldiers that have captured her begin to panic and give her medical treatment.
