The Goosebumps Most Wanted Special Edition book where a girl deals with a ghost family on Christmas.

Kate Wells can see ghosts. She was a bit too vocal about it, so now she's known as Ghost Girl to the kids. Especially cruel about is her frenemy, Courtney. Around Christmas time, their drama teacher Mr. Piccolo writes a Christmas play. He wants them to get in the mood so he has researched at a local creepy house, where a little girl fell a well years ago. Soon Kate starts to see some spirits and finds out the girl's family is still around, and they have gone a bit mad without their daughter...

This book provides examples of:

  • Chekhov's Hobby: Kate takes gymnastics and her skills are used a few times.
  • Christmas Episode: The first proper one in the franchise.
  • Covers Always Lie: The cover has a ghost in a Christmas sweater, but he doesn't match any of the ghosts in the book.
  • Distant Prologue: The first section is a prologue set some decades before setting up the backstory.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Kate is given the nickname "Ghost Girl", due to her claiming to have seen a ghost.
  • Here We Go Again!: Kate reunites the ghost family with their daughter. But Flora ditches them to move in with Kate.
  • Red Herring: It's hinted that Mr. P has some connection to the ghost family, but it's quickly dropped.
  • I See Dead People: Kate has the power to see ghosts. This gets her in trouble when she is a bit too vocal when she sees random ghosts.
  • Puppy Love: Kate mentions having a crush on Jack.
  • School Play: Mr. Piccolo writes one, which bears the title of the book. It's inspired by the story of Flora getting lost in the well.
  • Timmy in a Well: In the prologue, Flora falls down a well. However, they aren't able to save her.
  • With Friends Like These...: Courtney is supposedly a friend to Kate but she is constantly putting her down. Even the back blurb says she's a "friend".
