The 100 is a book series by Kass Morgan.

One hundred years after a nuclear war made the Earth uninhabitable, the survivors in the Colony above the planet send down 100 juvenile delinquents to the world below to test its recovery and habitability when the station's oxygen levels become dangerously low.

The series contains four books:

  • The 100 (2013)
  • Day 21 (2014)
  • Homecoming (2015)
  • Rebellion (2016)

The television show adaptation starts out as loosely based on the first book.

Tropes in this series include:

  • Covers Always Lie: One of the special edition covers for the first book has Finn from the show on it, even though he doesn't exist in the books.
  • Last Girl Wins: Clarke ends up with Bellamy, the last major boy to be in her life.
  • Mercy Kill: Clarke injects Lily with a deadly dose of medication to save her from a slow and painful death by radiation poisoning.
  • Starcrossed Lovers: It turns out that Wells's father Jaha was in love with Melinda Blake, the mother of Bellamy and Octavia, but he ended up with Wells's mother for political reasons. Turns out that Wells is actually their half-brother, too.
