The Mirror Visitor ("La Passe-Miroir") is a French series of four books written by Christelle Dabos.

The story takes place in a world where the Earth was shattered in an event called "La Déchirure", dividing it in 21 lands floating around the planet's core called "Arches". Each Arche but one has a "Family Spirit" (Esprit de Famille in French), gigantic humanoid immortals who possesses specific powers that are partially transmitted to their offspring who came to populate their Arche at the time of the story.

The series consists of:

  1. "A Winter's Promise" ("Les Fiancés de l'hiver", 2013; English edition: 2018)
  2. "The Missing of Clairdelune" ("Les Disparus du Clairdelune", 2015; English edition: 2019)
  3. "The Memory of Babel" ("La Mémoire de Babel", ; English edition: 2020)
  4. "The Storm of Echos" ("La Tempête des échos", 2019; English edition: 2021)

The series contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Child of Two Worlds: Thorn’s parents are revealed to be Dragon on paternal side and Chronicler on maternal side.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: several families of the Poles are excluded from living in the cities, public functions or voting due to the past misdeeds. Among them are Chroniclers, Invisibles, Persuasives and Narcotics. Played especially straight with Nihilists who were killed by Mirages because of their special ability, with Gail being the only survivor.
  • Never Mess with Granny: the grandmother of Thorn was against his marriage to such an extent that she tried to frame Ophelia for poisoning.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Artemis, Farouk and all the family spirits mentioned throughout the series are described as people in their prime. However, they have been there since the Rupture happened.

The first volume, "A Winter's Promise" contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Accent Relapse: Ophelia’s aunt is accidentally recognized to be Animist when she forgets to speak as instructed by Berenilda.
  • Arranged Marriage: As in the title, "A Winter's Promise" begins by the main character, Ophelia of Arche called Anima being betrothed to Thorn from another ark known as the Pole.
  • Decadent Court: The Poles have one.
  • Disguised in Drag: At one point Ophélie is lent a magic item for this purpose.
  • Psychometry: The outstanding ability of the main character.
