The Goosebumps: Series 2000 book about the worst teacher ever.
Paul isn't doing well at school. He's disrespectful, a delinquent, and mostly just likes to prank people, especially his teachers, which ultimately gets him expelled. At their wits' end, his parents pull some strings and get him admitted to the Caring Academy, a prestigious private boarding school where all the students are driven to succeed. Because if they don't excel, or just don't do quite as well as everyone else, they get eaten. And Paul is right at the bottom of the ladder.
It provides examples of:
- Alliterative Name: Paul Perez.
- Autocannibalism: Mrs. Maaargh at one point eats one of her own severed toes.
- Boarding School of Horrors: It wouldn't be too bad if students didn't run the risk of being eaten.
- Fowl-Mouthed Parrot: A kid friendly version kick starts the plot. Paul is kicked out of school after he brings his parrot to school, and it starts insulting the teacher.
- Here We Go Again!: Mrs. Maaargh is defeated but Marv is hungry...
- I'm a Humanitarian: Mrs. Maaargh eats underperforming students.
- I Never Got Any Letters: When students try to send letters home, the school just dumps them in the trash.
- Nightmare Face: The cover, with Mrs. Maargh bug-eyed, baring several rows of sharp teeth, and practically screaming at you.
- Nonindicative Name: The Caring Academy really, really isn't caring.
- Not Hyperbole: Everybody warns Paul that Mrs. Maaargh is a monster. Yes, she's a hardass, but they mean she's an actual monster.
- Red Herring: Marv isn't sabotaging Paul — it turns out he genuinely wanted to be friends.
- Sadist Teacher: Mrs. Maaargh takes it to extreme levels.
- Social Darwinist: Mrs. Maaargh chooses the worst-performing student as her meal.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Paul's parents, and the rest of the staff, don't think there's anything noteworthy about Mrs. Maaargh's appearance.
