Nel 1969, un gruppo Soul/Funk chiamato “The Winstons” se ne uscμ con un album dal nome “Color Him Father”. Sul lato-B dello stesso era incisa una canzone chiamata “Amen Brother”. Conteneva un assolo di batteria della durata di 5 secondi. Questo assolo, conosciuto come amen break, ha la particolaritΰ di essere il singolo frammento musicale piω campionato della storia moderna. Qualsiasi genere, dall'Hip-hop alla Techno, dal Rock al Metal, ne ha fatto uso di quando in quando. Θ uno dei frammenti piω presenti della cultura pop nella musica. Interi generi musicali gli devono la loro intera esistenza. Il Jungle e/o il Drum-n-Bass * sono quasi del tutto costruiti attorno l'uso creativo dell'Amen Break; qualche volta smembrando il campione in piccoli pezzi e ricostruendolo in forma nuova.
