Heartwarming / Zombieland: Double Tap

Go To

  • During the Christmas party, Tallahassee gifts Little Rock with Elvis Presley's gun, which she reacts to with frustration that her present is "yet another gun." In the climax, she uses it as a Chekhov's Gun to save Tallahassee. Not only did she hide it and prevent it from being melted in accordance to Babylon's laws, she declares to Tallahassee that it's her favorite Christmas present.
    • Tallahassee might not be the best father figure in the apocalypse, but he's definitely taken on the self-appointed role. Getting her presents for Christmas, getting overly protective of who is allowed to date her, and so on. While she was older than Buck when they first met in the original film, he's clearly channeled his parental instincts toward Little Rock.
    • The gifting becomes all the more heartwarming after the movie shows just how much Elvis means to Tallahassee and how much he values Elvis memorabilia. Considering how much he might have wanted it for himself, it can be seen as him giving her a piece of himself to protect herself with.
  • Madison's personality in of itself, in that it shows that bubbly, optimistic people can still survive Zombieland. The same goes for Flaggstaff, Although he doesn't make it forever.
  • Columbus didn't Mercy Kill Madison when she was supposedly bitten and she's revealed to be alive later having only gotten so sick due to a peanut allergy. Also a Tear Jerker if you were really attached to Madison before that.
  • Albuquerque willingly letting Flagstaff borrow his hat, perfectly symbolizing their apparent friendship and respect towards one another.
    • Heck, Albuquerque being friendly towards Flagstaff to begin with. Many reviewers have noted how they seem to have a stronger friendship than Columbus and Tallahasse.
  • Madison giving Columbus back the ring so Wichita can accept his marriage proposal.
  • Columbus and Wichita's concluding kiss, followed by one between Tallahassee and Nevada and then with Little Rock's permission, one between Madison and Berkeley.
  • Columbus' closing narration. Also sort of doubling as a funny. The finishing line even honors Flagstaff who became infected and perished earlier in the movie.
Columbus: ...Cuz home isn't a place, it's the people you're with. I guess that's why they're called your homies. And my homies are pretty fuckin' awesome. So till next time, this is Columbus, Ohio, on behalf of Witchita, Little Rock, Reno and Tallahassee saying (imitating T-800 voice) Hasta la vista, baby. That one's for you, Flagstaff.
