Heartwarming / White House Down

Go To

  • The Secret Service giving Walker a retirement party, complete with a cake! Considering how frequently the Secret Service is portrayed as stern-faced and completely humorless in countless movies, there's something heartwarming about them throwing a party.
    • A possible (and villainous) Fridge Brilliance example; after the party, Walker displays a clear fatherly attitude towards Carol and insists that she goes home and gets some rest. Given what goes down later that day, and his involvement in it, it's hinted that the real reason he sent her away was so that she'd be well away from the White House and any danger.
  • Cale and Emily embracing at the end. Not only because of the shit parade both of them have been through, but because Cale earlier expressed to Sawyer that he wanted to be his daughter's hero again, and implied that he was jealous of losing his #1 spot in her life in favor of a politician. That they both got to be each other's hero in the end is icing on the cake.
  • President Sawyer insisting on "Special Agent Cale" joining him on Marine One for the ride to the hospital. He won't go anywhere without his personal security detail.
    • Sawyer immediately insists Cale is doing a good job when they are on the phone with everyone.
  • Every time Cale wants to make a run for Emily, Sawyer wants to stick with him no matter what, even when he's had a particularly nasty piece of glass sticking out of his stomach. He doesn't have Cale's military training, but if it means backing up Cale and saving his daughter, Sawyer wouldn't care about risking his own neck.
  • The pilot refusing to destroy the white house because it meant killing Emily.
